Very true.  I wondered about that, but sounds like you already had it figured out and made the best choice for him.  I really respect that. 

So, the next question Joan is, what are you going to do with him?

HD, he'll be four years old in Oct, so i 'd say he's got his permanent place here. Any suggestions?
It isn't common to get a pup in a litter like this.

BTW, when he was about six months old, I had to quit putting him out with his sister....he was beating the crap out of her, and forget putting him with a brother, that ended when they were little. ( I raised all six in this litter till they were two, kept two males and one female) Last time I put him with another dog, it was an adult, his granddam. He was seven months old, she was having to fight him off, refraining from throttling him. He was relentless and took the punishment as though that was his purpose in attacking her. So he's not dog social. Although he is nice walking him through the house, past my 15 and 14 yr old terriers.
I can take him to town and walk him through a store, no problem...I just keep him out of reach of people. :-)

No Joan, I have no suggestions. Have you ever bred him, see what he produces? I have owned similar dogs and I know of several others who have as well and I can tell you, they are a pain in the ass to live with. As I have gotten older, I have lost any desire to "wear" a dog twice a week and my patience that was never great is getting much less now days. You seem to have the perfect set up as far as where you live, here, I can hear my neighbors whisper so the liability is much worse.

OMG, HD, I havent lived that close to people for nearly forty years. Out in the country is sooo nice. I agree, it can be a pain in the butt, however, things are copesetic with him since I do understand him. He's a happy, content dog, loves to run with the Wheeler or side by side and play in the creek. Very relaxed dog, super in the truck on the back seat, watching the scenery rush past. Normal dog stuff.
No, I haven't bred him, yet. I'm getting a female from a friend, wgwl, so very different lines than my own.....I'll see how she turns out, she should be very solid with strong nerves.

Joan, I was born and raised in the city, always lived next to someone, I am used to having 3 grocery stores and a huge plaza and 18 movies etc, within 5 minutes of me. I am 6 minutes away from one airport, 25 minutes away from another and about an hour from a third. I am and always will be a city boy and although I love the country and the woods and its great to visit,  I always look forward to coming back to the hustle and bustle of the city. I have a friend who lives in Utah, 40 acres, 1 hour outside Salt Lake...nothing around her but her kennel and mountains...beautiful to look at for 4 days, could not live there if I tried. I need and want choices that are not available to people living in remore areas, I guess I am spoiled.

I am very curious as to how he would produce...you may have something there that could produce some great working dogs, depending on who he was bred to. 

 

I understand about the convenience and closeness of the city. I lived the first nine years of my life on fishing boats on an island. Lived in the big city, and my work took me all over north america. I do love living here with wilderness all around. Used to be a stop over between jobs wit my horses and dogs, but since I quit going on the road,it's been wonderful retirement for my horses and dogs and myself.

I just got a litter by his brother, an out cross on a czech /wgwl female. So far, I'm impressed.
I definitely have not discounted him, have considered this female. But she had ELEVEN pups in this litter.....

VERY nice looking dog you have there Joan.  Looks very serious.
