What a sad situation, I feel sorry for poor Natalee. Why is Ironhorse not responding to anyone's post. I really don't think she's going to see any of her $$$$ back. Surley not going to get what she paid, and I highly doubt will go very far in a lawsuit. So why not do what's best for Natalee and get her into a good home where she can live a decent life. Please respond Ironhorse or PM me.  Pete

This poor dog, stuck in the middle of a bad situation.  If it's all lies, I would hope the breeder would just give the person their money back and take back the dog..seems like that would solve the whole thing.

by Iron Horse on 19 September 2011 - 00:09

TRUTH BE TOLD!  Mr. Henkel did offer a replacement dog.  Sight unseen, for another mere investment of $2,000.00 more, on top of the $3,000.00 already paid for Natalee.  What would any of you do?  Not that it really matters at this point.  The many of you that have found a sounding board will continue to blast off untruths that you think you know for truth.

NATALEE IS WELL CARED FOR!  SHE ENJOYS ALL THE BENEFITS OF THE REST OF MY GSD'S AND OTHER ANIMALS AT MY FACILITY.  What point would there be in mistreating her???  Her beginnings were no fault of mine.  If she were a product of mine, I would have given her away to a pet home.  And after breeding dogs for over 30 years, I have given away many.  No dog, cat, horse, rabbit, goat or otherwise has EVER, and I mean EVER been mistreated at my hand.  I have rescued several over the years and kept one GSD that went on to be a stellar Search and Rescue dog!

I owe none of you an explanation.  My intent here was to expose a con man and an absolute liar.  Again, none of you are in this position.  And yes, I have been inspected by AKC and the State of Indiana!

I find it humerous that many responding are so concerned about the dogs long 3 hour trip to the airport.  Did you forget about the additional 2 hour drive home.  And yes, I do quarantine my new arrivals.  So, yes, she was not allowed the run of a new environment.  In the complete awareness and well being of my other dogs.  But, she did not develop this flaw on the plane from Connecticut.  That has absolutely nothing to do with the situation.  So drop that nonsense already.

And yes, I do own 2, that's TWO of Mr. Henkel's dogs.  Purchased a year apart.  None of you seem to take that into perspective.  I put my total trust into this breeder and he was COMPLETELY aware of my reasons for purchasing his dogs.  I was taken advantage of.  Now I dare ANY of you to be pleased if that happened to you!  The video is of Natalee a few days after her arrival.  What you see, is what I got!  Why is that so hard for many of you to understand.  If you bought something that cost thousands of dollars and you were not happy with, would you keep it?  SO NO, NATALEE IS NOT IN A PIT UNDER BARBED WIRE AND FED SCRAPS.  I dare any one of you to prove otherwise.  It is so easy to point fingers.

Now, I dare any of you to buy a dog from him!!    Cause Natalee is going to stay where she is until this matter is resolved by Mr. Henkel.  If you want her, contact him.  You can buy her from him.

by Iron Horse on 19 September 2011 - 00:09

WOW, is that all you got Mr. Henkel.  If I were you, I'd be concerned for my future as a breeder.  Your credibility as such is extremely tarnished.

Thanks to all of you who have an understanding of this issue.  I appreciate your efforts at my defense.

Is there a post missing here. What was Henkel's response? I'm Glad Natalee is OK. I would be pretty upset in your position. I would not buy a GSD sight unseen unless I had someone I trusted see them. Buying 2 dogs first, allowed you to put your guard down. Well I hope things turn out the best for you and Natalee. If for some reason you need to foster her, let me know. I'm not far.  Pete

You don't owe anyone an explanation IH, the video speaks for itself.

All the finger pointing at you and nit picking at how you handled the dog was all a deflection.  A deflection from the real issue at hand, which is, a (great?) breeder selling you a dog for breeding ( for a lot of money) that has terrible conformation.  ANY way you look at it.  Why the deflection? I can only guess,  because they themselves own or breed dogs of similar conformation.

I have never had a cowhocked dog, certainly not one like was shipped you, and there is no excuse for it.  If breeders would clean up their act, we wouldn't have to feel sorry for these POOR animals, because they wouldn't exist.

Thank you for not turning around and breeding her yourself, which you could have very easily done, and avoided all the negativity on here, maybe even been applauded.

LOL, how pathetic is that?

Oh, to be so naive. ROFL
RS, you might save yourself some embarrassment by doing some homework on the people who come on here slinging mud. Ever hear that things are not always what they seem? I know how you love to pin everything on breeders/sellers (I think you'd blame a breeder if a dog got hit by a car- it should've been tougher or some such nonsense) but seriously...before you speak, do a little homework. Reminds me of the JB mess when you're so sure you're fighting for the underdog...

1GSD1, I don't care to disagree or agree with you. In fact, what you think of my decision to help a dog (if possible) is absolutely of no interest to me. I do as I see fit in each situation. I didn't ask for your help or your blessing.  The NIMBY Syndrome is not an affliction of mine. Sometimes you have to actually step in and get your hands dirty. I was similarly warned when I took in the 6 yr old bound for euth. due to extreme aggression and him flown to me from NY. Risky? Sure. But how many things truly worth doing come with no risk?

This whole dog world is dis******gusting. Livestock traders acting all high and mighty, scamming right and left, lying, and people are so stupid that they blindly cheer them on while the well-meaning but fearful tsk tsk someone willing to help because of the possible dangers. It all boils down to nobody doing SHIT to make anything any better- just a lot of talking about it.  Morons. Sheep.  Such weakness.  And we wonder why the character of our dogs is steadily declining? Dogs are simply a reflection of society. C'est la vie, c'est vrai....but I don't have to be part of it.

If anyone truly needs to contact me, email me off my website.

Red Sable,
Um, the only thing that spoke to me from the video is the glaringly obvious way the handler made the dog skid out on the pavement multiple times, resulting in the dog developing a slight favoring of one of the hinds legs for the remainder of the video. I tried to watch the video just for the conformation aspect, but honestly I'm too distracted by the blatant disregard for the dog's physical well-being.
