Seriously, thanks!  I got a good laugh from reading your post,  the fact of the matter is there is plenty of blame to go around regarding the financial crisis, and I believe most of us have said that in  those threads which were actually about the economic mess our country is in.  To suggest this is the fault of one party is ludicrous.  If you use the "search" function you will be able to find those threads.

Not sure why you would be so rude about how Hodie is raising her kids, it has nothing to do with a socialist society and no where did she say anything about the kids "arguing politics".   How you can find fault with the way Hodie is raising her kids is beyond me.  She is raising them with discipline, love and giving them a well rounded education.  I wish more parents were like her.

As far as this election goes, McCain, Palin and their supporters (republican party) have reached a new low in fear mongering, hate mongering, and spreading out and out lies.  So much so that General Colin Powell was forced to speak out in disgust of their role in this election.  By the way, it should speak volumes to you that this General has now come out in support of Obama.

Just like RPK once again putting forth the tired old lies which have been disproved time and time again, for example the one about  Obama "hanging around with terrorists" and suggesting something in Obamas past is evil.  Or like Sammie suggesting Obama's health care plan is the same as socialized medicine.  You guys are like Stepford Wives.  I guess you think if you repeat the lies often enough people will believe you.   You know, come to think about it, no wonder you folks have no problem with an idiot like  Palin.

I tend to agree with you Sue..a rare occurence indeed

This country is facing a second engineered Depression & the future President is on SNL,  dancing to a Rap skit.

Its hard to fathom it.

"deleriously" (it isn't seriously), yes, the kids start many of the discussions themselves......and what an ass you are to suggest that someone who wants to help guide young minds to learn to be critical thinkers is doing nothing but indoctrinating....you are out of line. And if a discussion at dinner pulls them away from watching some stupid television show, so be it. They still participate in many activities, including scouts and school activities.

You still did not answer the question either about what you last did for anyone except yourself?

By the way, to be clear, these are NOT my children, but my business partners' children who live here with her. So she has primary responsibility obviously for how they have been raised. I have no real responsibility, yet I care enough about the future of the kids and my country that I take an interest in children to help them grow up to be discerning adults (as I have when I have taught)....not like some we see posting here who have no clue and who have contributed nothing to this society.

Blitzen...Id like to make a point to you.

I dont have any problem with the Confederate Flag. To Me,  it symbolizes State Rights, nothing more. That is and was Consitutional.

The Federal Government & Lincoln, Usurped States Rights by Federalizing the Rights of States.

Lincoln declared Martial Law, Jailed reported & owners of the Press, closed Ports, and waged a war on the Southern Populace for their desire to be free of a Federal tyrannical power.  Hundreds of thousands died and blood washes slowly, still in the South.

And despite the school curriculum program, the Civil War had NOTHING to do with slavery.  Dozens of other nations had issues of abolition & slavery.  Not a single one ever  warred over abolition.

In fact, it was Lincolns desire to return slaves back to their homeland.  The Confederate flag was about Freedom from Federal tyranny.   Lincoln was a traitor.  It was only when he tried to publish interest free greenbacks from the US Treasury that he was murdered.   2 Presidents have tried to do that. Lincoln & JFK.

That said, there is alot of overt Rascism in this campaign that I think is sickening. Im interested in most qualified, I dont care what color/religion/party/ gender  they are..

Ugly, maybe you feel that way about the Confederate flag representing state rights, but I don't think you could argue that it is often used as a symbol of racism as well.

And the swastika was a symbol for good luck prior to the Nazis adapting it.

It doesn't matter what the original intent was of either the swastika or the confederate flag.  The fact is that to the overwhelming majority of our population today, both those "symbols" represent terror, oppression, segregation and a despicable time in history.   Both symbols are used by white supremacist groups and they sure as hell aren't flying them for good luck or states rights.

Seriously, do you seriously believe that classifying the local mullet wearing, cross burning,  KKK members and skin heads as  rednecks is stereotyping? How do you feel about those who organized a KKK rally on the Gettysburg Battlefield? A mayor who incited a race riot and provided weapons to the crowd?  People who go to malls to intimidate and harrass minorities? Patriots? Not to me and if that makes me a hypocrit, then so be it.

slavery has been at the heart of many a battles and wars. it is an economic tool which is unfortunately still being used today both overtly and covertly, and in this country and nearly every other country.  so don't be fooled into thinking that somehow slavery doesn't play a role in nearly every major conflict.  it's the quickest and easiest way to make huge profits and the greedy know this and will continue to use it as long as they can get away with it.

Sue & Just Curious,

The Real Terror came from those that Won &  Promoted the Civil War, the Federal Government.   Not 1 other nation in the world, of dozens that implemented & institutionalized slavery, warred over it,  or Abolition.

The Confederate Flag is a symbol to resistance from Federal Government, which were granted in the Constitution, but whose rights were usurped in that treasonous war.

I detest slavery. 300,000 Irish were also Sold as Slaves by England. Slavery still exists today in Africa & an ongoing problem.

The Confederate  flag really shouldnt represent slavery or terror, except to the unknowing. And its used as a propoganda piece to promote hatred & division (Divide & conquer)  by the powers that be.  Lincoln cared not for the slaves, as he stated that they should be sent back to their homeland.

The Nazi Flag was also a symbol for the National Socialist party,  Which opposed Communism next door. Communism was & is the permier threat to the world,  Russian Communism the greater evil, not Hitler or the Nazi party.  USSR- where a very real  & greatest Holocaust took place,  the 50 Million Christians Genocided by Bolsheviks & Bankers.  International Bankers that are now destroying us,  into their New World Order & killing our economy presnetly.

Slavery also exists in taxes & inflation. Both are engineered by these Banksters.

Blacks here, have since fared better than their African counterparts in every way. One is about to be elected President.

by hodie on 20 October 2008 - 19:10

"One is about to be elected President." Yes, "one", Barack Obama IS about to be elected President of the United States. This is a result of the failed policies of the last 8 years for certain. But, in a different sense, it is because he is an exceptional person who, when faced with less than an optimum childhood, instead of making excuses for himself, got off his butt and made something of himself. Some of how he fared is a result of his white heritage as well. Not all blacks, or hispanics, or non-whites have been so lucky. Finally, he was born with a fine mind and he chose not waste it.
