Hodie: the point I was trying to make, that Silbersee agreed with, is that any bit of success results in getting attacked. Look at how eichenluft gets treated on this board. Perfect example. Its easy to pick apart someone on the internet. I think people like her and Randy have accomplished more than 75% of the people that talk trash.
More than one person stated Ronaldo has very good work, has no one congratulated him on his fine dog? No, everyone is too busy tearing him apart for not handling the dog himself. You want to pick apart someone, pick apart the "trainers" who take money from breeders to put garbage on the field. Pick apart the judges who do not have nerve to fail them, and the governing club that encourages it. Your energies will be much better used there, I think.
That being said, my sincerest congratulations to everyone whose dog showed the balance of character and correctness that the breed should have.

Can't you understand when someone says something tongue in cheek? I swear, when god was passing out senses of humor, you thought he was still on brains and said, "No thanks--I'll pass".
Unless that dog learns not to look for tripe under the sleeve, he has about as much chance of being Universal Sieger as you have of being named "Miss Mensa 2008" or I being named Miss America.
Develop a sense of humor...

I have no problem with people hiring trainers/handlers to compete and show their dogs - the Universal Seiger title, and even Schh titles, show ratings - is all about the dog, not who is holding the leash. As long as the title/conformation rating/achievement is done fair and square, connecting all the dots and passing all the requirements - have at it. If I had the money I would probably think about it myself, at least for the conformation stuff - who wants to run around a ring 100 times? For the working stuff - I do my own - but that's me and mine. To each their own, I can't say someone's dog doesnt' deserve a title because the owner chose to pay a trainer or handler - IF the dog actually earned it, then who cares who is doign the legwork. IMO.

I have no qualms with that.. and I do feel to each their own.
Still galls me at times to think of the many blinders judges have worn over the years.. in Bakersfield I rember gun shy dogs being placed up front while handlers mouths fel to the ground and gasped aloud what????? My husband has NEVER been the same in regards to respecting judges or the Schutzhund commmunity officials. With the many blinders have been many good and forthright incedents as well. But never could get that bad taste out of his mouth and his blushing red irish face.. every see an irishman try to hold his tongue>> (G) ???
Personally, I just dont use placements for bettering the breed or making breeding decisions. I hope others dont... if they do I dont feel sorry for them. A show placement...even a SS placement being used as criteria for selecting potential breeding partners or stock to add to a breeding program is ignorant.
I also dont understand why the rest of the world would be laughing at Americans for what did or did not happen at one event? Do they think breeders rely on SS placements to go forward with breeding goals? Is that what they do? And does anyone think the rest of the world is void of such things? If so..some friendly advice from a nobody: wake up....open your own eyes and ears... dont rely on what others say or profess to be gospel. And dont make breeding choices based on placements.

Hodie, I think I am going to nominate you for a GSD world pulitzer prize. You call it like it like is. I commend you.
Dog 1, I honestly think that you compromised whatever integrity you may have had trying to justify this obvious travisty.
Chris(Silbersee), you appear to be more a part of the problem than someone with integrity. I can honestly say that I would not do business with you or your kennel in any future business dealings if I was looking to purchase a dog.
Molly and Deeswolf, thank you for having the courage to speak out even at risk of putting yourself in trouble within the organization.
The videos of the protection work at the San Jose 2008 Sieger Show are an embarrassment to the breed and to the USCA Organization as a whole. I would hope to see the VAs removed from the dogs that clearly were "outed" as coming off the sleeve. I would hope that these dogs do not go on to be front cover or centerfolds in the USCA magazine (that would be beyond insult to the membership). I hope the USCA Board has more character than most of the dogs awarded VA and does the right thing for the sport, the breed and the membership.
But in the next few weeks and months everyone in the GSD World should be watching and decide whether to support this organization or keep your money in your check book. The best way to send a message is to cut off the money.
Let's revisit this subject after USCA has the opportunity to right the wrong.

A newbie could get confused very quickly on this database. We all just read recent post calling everyone out on who was qualified to give advise based on such as how many and what titles have you obtained in your life. Now I read this posting and if I understand correctly even people at the USA Seiger Show have shadows cast on them about the quality of their training and/or quality of GSD?
I am not arguing the point at all it just seems confusing to me. Then you read how gun shy dogs were not disqualified?
I may not be an expert but I know how to pick out dogs with strong nerves and good temperment. My belief holds firm that without those you have nothing!
Not asking for a fight just voicing my opinion. Just sad to see any type of shadow cast upon any good dogs that competed at the show.

Hey Chuckie, do you care to elaborate a bit more? That just does not make sense to me. First, I wasn't even in California for the Sieger Show. Second, I have never even commented on any of these performances. The last time, my family showed a dog for the performance part of the working class, he was written up in the Dog Sports Magazine for his awsome bitework. This paper is now defunct, but if you want me to, send me your email address and I scan the article and send it to you. Our dog ended up placing VA-5. So, I am really interested how you came to that conclusion?
Or is it because I stood up along with Robin and had a problem with the character assassination of a certain CT breeder? Why don't you just come out and say it, whoever you are? You and certain other CT croonies really need to get a life. Not all of the problems in our breed evolve around you, Spaetzle, Dogmom, K9-mom, Elizabeth and whoever else. The only thing that really disturbs me about you is that you share the same name with my black workingline female. And she has a great temperament and certainly is not a fearbiter.
Go ahead and crawl back into the hole you came from and wait for Smitty or Scotty.
See Hodie, that is what I mean with negativity! Enough said! It is not worth commenting anymore!

I'd like to offer my congratulations to Ravi, the person who downloaded the videos from the SS to this board. Ravi's dog, #1 Juneau, was HOT, earned a true TBS rating and was the first dog Ravi ever trained as far as I know. This dog is one of the golden middles we always speak of and he has proven that he's one of those dogs that can do it all. If Ravi wants to share with you the rest of Juneau's accomplishments, he can do so. He's a very modest man. so I don't wish to embarass him. Ravi may never breed a litter, but his contributions to the breed have been priceless and earned fair and square without political intervention. Also my sincere congratulations to all the others whose dogs perfromed to to the standard and earned their pronounced. We all know who you are.; the unsung heros of the German Shepherd Dog world.
And that's MY impression of the Sieger.
by Blitzen on 21 April 2008 - 13:04
BTW, Juneau is also a candidate for Universal Sieger.
