I tried to take her temp but the thermometer was acting funny. Upon further investigation it appears as though my youngest tried to use as a boat..it ess full of water...and I just got this one. Note I'm too scared to leave. Ugh, what if one of my older kids did let them out if their crates when they weren't supposed to? I never thought to question it because they were always in their crates when I got home. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Walking her now to see if this helps calm her down, maybe she just needs another potty break. OMG!! I'm not ready...I'm not ready!

I think I'm over analyzing what's happening with her right now. I'll let you know if anything changes and what the new vet says.

Get her to vet today. Do not wait for an appointment in a day or two. Be sure to tell them, when you call, about the bleeding, the duration and the change in color. Tell them the vet you've been using said don't worry about it, and tell tem about the bitch biting her hind legs and licking and let them know the te duration of her being off her food. Don't wait around to " see what happens" . Get on the phone.

I have never had blood, red or brown, befor a healthy pup was born. Never. GET TO A VET WHO KNOWS SOMETHING. Preferably, a country-type vet, with gray hair, who remembers what an intact animal is.

We are in my house and I'm not hot, in fact I'm more then comfortable. Her vulva looks bigger to me, but it could be me I'm over drive right now. Should I just be looking at the location between the two? I haven't looked there. Omg, she's digging around. Ok she's not in labor, I'm freaking myself out. She can't be in labor...

Working on a vet now. She seems to have called down and is now going to sleep. I did get her to eat....hash and grits lol

Blood= not a good sign= a problem = GET HER TO A VET THAT HAS EXPERIENCE WITH PREGNANT BITCHES...that's HANDS ON EXPERIENCE! NOT JUST THEORY?

by joanro on 12 May 2014 - 17:05

HASH?! that's corned beef soaked in BRINE! dogs don't need salt in their food, especially not a pregnant bitch. Grits are corn, corn is bad for dogs. Give her some raw beef steak without the bone.

:O ok got my thermometer to work after drying it out. Now, it could be the thing is just dead which means I'll have to get another one anyway. But she stopped panting, I gave her a bath and after about 1/2 hour she stopped panting. But her temp read at 98.7. Her stomach looks like it just exploded, literally from this morning to now. Could the fact that they have dropped put her into this state? She's 49 days today (of course now I have to say if it never happened before I was traumatized).

Let's ask this question a better way. Everything she's doing, the panting, the nesting (first time I've seen her do it was today) the biting and cleaning, are these all typical signs in this stage of pregnancy?

The bleeding I realize is not and am working on getting that addressed.

49 days? No, absolutely not. 61 days, yeah. So, you're either way wrong on the tie or something major is going on. You know if those pups are dying and she's trying to expel them and cannot, that she can go septic and die, right? Her temp is low for 49 days, provided that's accurate. Blood is an issue. I'm not happy about the blood.

98.7 is actually low for a dog. The average temp. is around 101 F. She wouldn't be considered to have a fever until it got to 102 F.
