What we're going to do is a short version of what I've been doing since 2003 when my working female didn't pass the protection routine in Bakersfield. If anyone remembers Bakersfield, those dogs were tested.
I considered it a sign of what was to be the direction of the breed. Since then I have accumulated some knowledge about the personality, temperament and nerve of a dog. VKGSD put it very nicely that it takes getting to know a dog to see really what a dog is about. I have people like Armin Winkler, Ron Harris, Steve House, Lora Nix, Dan Heldreth, Kristinia Senter, (to name a few) and many others along the way to thank, They gave me insight about the inner workings of the mind of the German Shepherd.
Since 2003 I've been to many events, many kennels, many training groups and I always look to see what dogs are there and how they perform. When I see an exceptional dog, I ask who the parents are and look them up. Over the years my research lead me to the dogs I believe contribute their work ethic to a very high percentage of their offspring.
What we will be doing here is expanding what I've done and with the help of PDB and all those involved, continue the research and draw some conclusions.
Here's what we will do first. Develop a list of conformation line dogs that possess working ability equal to a good working line dog. The list will include dogs that have accomplished a SchH3 at a National event. The nominations have to have a proven performance. I love my dog, he's the greatest, but he's not going to be on the list because I've not taken him to his potential. If my dog's not on the list, neither is your's or your puppy's daddy.
When you nominate a dog, please list it's accomplishment.
A special invitation for the working line people. If you have competed at the National level and have seen a showline dog that you feel is worthy, you get to nominate the dog.
Let's start!
I'll begin the list with two dogs that have been mentioned here:
1. Triumph's Gucci
Pam Am Universal Sieger when he was around 9 years old. I talked to the judge that judged him that day and he was amazed that a dog of that age was in such excellent condition. He has a history of work and the accomplishment behind him to be included on the list.
2. Xasko von der Roten Matter
Multiple BSP participant, no need to add anything more.
Everyone can participate. If you think you have a dog that qualifies, please suggest it. We'll take a look at it. Volunteers start your search!

Jaguar Mausespitz? I know he never competed in the BSP or anything but ask anyone who ever knew or him, or hell, saw him and the first thing out of everyon'e mouth is "that dog could WORK".
Ork Werther Muhle (If you've seen him bite you know what I mean!)
What about Mary's dog or Ravi's Juneau? I'm afraid I can only base my experience off what I have seen here in the US. I've never had the pleasure of visiting Germany as many here have. I'd love to see some input from Chris.
I'm interested in the technique for this since I know a few PPD and police K9 that would not qualify for this list due to lack of titles and recognized accomplishments but they have drive and grips that any WL lover would respect.
edit: Nexx Hartis Bohemia!
and another: Ory Zollernblut, 2x USA Universal Sieger

Jeck Bildeiche, 2000 BSP competitor. Placed respectably.
Is there anywhere online where I can view WUSV competitors over the last 10-15 years?

by Dog1 on 13 May 2011 - 16:05
I'll take Jeck Bildeiche, trained by Dagmar. He placed in front of Dr. Reiser's working male at the BSP. Not bad for a show dog, he's on the list too.
Let's not go back too far. We need the genetices to be new enough to be useful in todays breeding programs.
