Joan...wow! How could you say something like that? That's just pure meaness!
Yep, pups were definitely toothless. They would try to suck on my fingers sometimes when I was handling them. They were trying to get up on all 4's but couldn't quite manage it yet. Wish I'd gotten some pics before they left, but maybe I was remembering the last time I posted puppy pictures here...

And that's why I held back from posting anything until the second puppy went missing. That's the one thing I really am kicking myself for. The owner managed to convince me that maybe...just MAYBE one of my GSD's had gotten into the room when mom was outside. Never mind that I always latched at least the top latch on the cage door...maybe they'd been able to push it open. I also had a very hard time believing she'd be able to totally eat a puppy of that size and not leave a single trace. I should have separated her from them as soon as that first pup disappeared.

I would take her off the pups and only put her in to nurse under strict supervision. I have limited room space also but I bought bunk beds for my kids and put two kids in the same room and I took over the bed room completely, I also tore up carpet in there and put down vinyl. I threw away the old bed and furniture :) I also put an exercise pen around the whelping box so the mama couldn't jump out and then I put padlocks on the exercise pen so my kids couldn't get in! ....I have also whelped a female right next to my bed in a 4x4 whelping box puppies were in there until 4 weeks old. where there is a will, there's a way. Im sorry but I wouldn't trust that female with those pups AT ALL. I have a friend that muzzled his female when she nursed because of the same issue. as far as temperature I keep the room pups are in around 72-74 degrees for that age of puppies. but im not sure if that right or not but I haven't had any sick puppies so its working. are you giving your female puppy food and calcium? Maybe she is lacking nutrients.
