Have you seen defeated dogs? I sure did not. Some of these dogs at this time are working for PDS and other LEA.
I can not explain your questions in short confines of this Forum. I wold not even know where to begin and as you know I am usually not short for words. You remain me of a person which I have encountered during our security dogs training when our dogs were doing bite work. This person was saying > Oh my!!! Oh my!!! ,...poor thing. And one of the officers said not to worry the decoy is not feeling anything through the body suite. And the person said pointing to the dog. No I am worrying about the poor dog!

Actually I was commenting on the video. But now I will analyze you. It would be beneficial to you to be able to separate what you do from who you are.
"Hissing and Karate chopping in the air?Have you seen defeated dogs? I sure did not."
Maybe we were watching different videos?
"Some of these dogs at this time are working for PDS and other LEA."
I don't doubt that. However, what was done to them in the posted videos surely did not help them.
"I can not explain your questions in short confines of this Forum. I wold not even know where to begin and as you know I am usually not short for words."
Well goshers Mr. Prager I am sure you are right. Any discussions of theory you might offer me as to why you thought your videos addressed the ot of the definition of civil would most likely go right over my lil ole empty head.

I have on occassion witnessed the testing of dogs for service. It does not look like that.(your videos). I will admit that watching crappy training does make me feel bad for the dog.

funny that someone who knows so much isnt able to post a simple video to show he practice what he preaches
or
it was entertaining
Well never mind that.
You have shoved nice videos. But they are unrelated to the topic. You have shown either obedience or prey driven non civil protection.
I thought that you would share some CIVIL agitation since this is thread about CIVIL agitation.

@ stephanieJ- dogs need to be tested for evaluation for PSD work. This isn't sport for points, it's a dog someone will depend their life on.... they need to choose the most likely to succeed and complete a training program on par with the other dogs in the program (consistency). If you don't test them you are running the risk of a dog washing out halfway through training, which in LE does not go over well. While some edged out others IMO they were all very consitent and trainable for PSD's. I didn't see any dogs defeated, they experienced less than a minute of pressure they just haven't been trained to deal with yet.

OK I'll be nice. The reason I have said that there is not enough space on the forum for me to answer that, is because you are asking complex questions in naive and demeaning way which would take a book to do justice to.
The test of the dogs was conducted in order to test these particular dogs ability to withstand negative challenge of unknown type. Most dogs today are bred and trained in prey drive. These dogs were also trained in prey, but eventually when mature enough, they need to be challenged negatively in order to train them to withstand negative pressure of "civil" type. Testing like this then reveals to me where the dogs are at. As you can see all dogs ended winning since the decoy retreated after the dog's last successful attack. None of the dogs were walking away defeated even so during the test some of them were getting discouraged. In the next round which you do not see here all dogs were willing to fight.
StephanieJ. you can doubt that this training is not what makes police dogs, but I assure you that this type of training is a small part of total training and personally see it absolutely necessary that the dog with minimal but necessary support is trained to deal with negative threat. LE dog which is trained just in prey will or may fail under real pressure from the perp. Also it is not important exactly what specific negative pressure you put in the dog as long as the dog wins. Perp will not always use the negative pressure of to the dog known type. Thus it is important to introduce the dog to him unknown pressure and make sure that he wins.
That is my problem with sport people and many LEA, that all they are doing is developing prey drive and completely omit negative challenge training. Then if they see to them unusual training like this, they are bewildered and make funny comments like talking about karate chops in the air and hissing. and how "entertaining" it is. And then they expect me to be nice. You say that you want to learn and at the same time you are making fun of what you do not understand. Ask nice and I'll answer nice.
