"Please remember the police dogs that died when left in a running car. The car can overheat and shut off and despite all your good intentions, you could end up with the same results. Unless you are watching that car so close you can notice it has stopped running or that your dogs are in distress, I would not even do that."

Some of the K9 websites sell monitoring equipment that sends a signal (up to 1/4 mile range) if the engine cuts out, operating along the same lines as the security systems that remotely alert you if someone is breaking into your car. They are quite expensive at $500+ but I thought I would mention it as an option for those who can afford it.  Nothing beats being there in person but nothing says your house won't burn down while you're out either if you choose to leave the dogs home. (mine burned down while we were sleeping due to an electrical fire - thankfully our loudouth Beagle woke us up before we all burned to death)

Kileyshuman:  My house caught fire too, while I was in Houston, with a baby gsd with me,,Thank goodness, but in my house were two cocker spaniels and also germans in crates in air condition for their safety...Lightening struck my home and traveled from front electric gate under ground and turned on a microwave where i had a bag of sugar stored...burned it up and exploded , flying door into house and caught house on fire..lucky a neighbor saw smoke , called TC fire and all neighbors converged on my home busting in and dragging dogs and cages out front...emt  and fire fighters swarmed and dogs were give resutation and I knew nothing of any of it until late in the evening when I drove up and saw my gate roped and padlocked..and a big note on it... See your neighbors..you cockers need you asap...Shepherds were ok  and in cages in front yard....many tales surrounded this event but lucky for me  I worked with the police depts in area so all of them knew me and all of them took care of my pets and my home....Took me one year to rebuild and recover...I worked with Local authorities of k9 's and the police men with K9's do have an attachment on the police car that is to go off immediately if the car stops or falls dead..but they can also malfunction and in Fort Worth  Texas  several years ago , one of those units to send a signal to the Policeman that the car was dead and immediate attention needed  , malfunctioned and the dog died in the policecar.. THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE ALSO

HOGWASH!

IF YOU LOOK AT THE GOOGLE SATELLITE MAP VIEW OF THIS ONE STORY BUILDING AT 18243 E. 9 MILE RD. EASTPOINTE, MI, AND CONSIDER THAT IT WAS 2:15 PM, HOW COULD THERE POSSIBLY BE ANY SHADE ANYWHERE AROUND IT? CERTAINLY NOT ENOUGH TO LEAVE ANY LIVE ANIMAL OR HUMAN IN A VEHICLE IN 80 DEGREE TEMPERATURES. EVEN WITH ALL OF THE WINDOWS SLIGHTLY OPEN FOR VENTILATION. IF IT WAS A CLEAR DAY, ANYTHING ALIVE IN THAT VEHICLE WOULD BE OVERHEATED IN NO TIME. AND, IT WAS ONLY A COUPLE OF HOURS PAST NOON, WHEN THE SUN IS SUPPOSED TO BE DIRECTLY OVERHEAD. THERE AREN'T MANY BUILDINGS OR ANYTHING ELSE CASTING SHADOWS AT THAT TIME OF DAY. EVEN THOUGH WE ARE GOING INTO THE AUTUMN MONTHS AND THE SEPTEMBER SUN IS GETTING JUST A LITTLE LOWER ON THE HORIZON, THERE IS NO WAY THAT BUILDING COULD HAVE PRODUCED ENOUGH SHADE TO COVER A VEHICLE PARKED ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE BUILDING. AND OF COURSE, THERE WAS CERTAINLY NO SHADE ON THE WEST SIDE.

REALLY, THE NEAREST TREE IS A HALF BLOCK AWAY!

NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD EVER THINK THAT IT WAS "SHADY" AND COOL AND OK TO LEAVE THEIR ANIMALS IN A VEHICLE, AND INSIDE CRATES, NO LESS.

I HOPE THAT THIS GIRL IS MORE STUPID THAN UNCARING. MAYBE SHE WAS BUSY CHATTING WITH HER BUDDIES INSIDE AND DIDN'T THINK ABOUT THOSE POOR DOGS' OUT THERE SUFFOCATING IN THE TRUCK.

IF ANYONE HAS EVER SHIPPED AN ANIMAL, THE AIRLINES REFUSE TO TRANSPORT ANY ANIMALS IF THE TEMPERATURE AT ANY GIVEN STOP IS ABOVE THEIR RESTRICTIONS. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THEY HAVE TO HOLD THEM OVER FOR DAYS IN ORDER TO WAIT UNTIL THE TEMPERATURES DROP.

I RECENTLY LOST MY 9YR OLD GSD TO DEGENERATIVE MYELOPATHY. I TRIED EVERYTHING I POSSIBLY COULD TO KEEP HIM FOR JUST A LITTLE LONGER, BUT, I COULDN'T. I HAD TO PUT HIM DOWN, THERE IS NO CURE FOR THE DISEASE, AND IT IS ALWAYS FATAL... I  WOULD GIVE ANYTHING TO HAVE HIM BACK, EVEN FOR JUST A LITTLE  WHILE.

IT REALLY INFURIATES ME THAT SOMEONE COULD BE SO UNCARING AND/OR STUPID TO SACRIFICE TWO BEAUTIFUL HEALTHY ANIMALS AND SUBJECT THEM TO A MISERABLE DEATH. GSD'S ARE LOYAL AND LOVING DOGS, AND THOSE TWO PROBABLY WOULD HAVE LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES TO PROTECT HER.

JENNIFER, SINCE, YOU OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T FEEL ANY REAL AFFECTION FOR THEM, I HOPE THAT YOU FEEL EVERY OUNCE OF SHAME AND REGRET, FOR YOUR PART IN THEIR DEATHS, FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.

NEVER, NEVER, GET ANOTHER ANIMAL.

YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE OR CARING ENOUGH TO EVER HAVE ANOTHER ONE. "

Lilscout,

It would be helpful if you could post the link to the specific site where we can see the actual lay-out.

Thanks for the link...and well said lilscout.  Do we have the address of the burger joint as well?  She seems to be vague on just where she was when this occurred.  All I can do is cry for those poor dogs.  Jen gets no pity from me.  She did this to those dogs I don't care if some masked man did ride by & shut the windows.  She is still responsible and should have been watching the vehicle and checking up on them frequently.  I hope this goes to court and the judge deems her unfit to own any animal let alone a GSD.
