Mithuna

by Mithuna on 12 March 2016 - 16:03

SS she is about 25 1/2 at the withers but very thick and bulky throughout her body. And no shes not fat. She has lots of explosive short range speed and regularly does a 45 min continuous trot.

She eats about 3 1/2 pounds of raw ( rabbit, chicken, fish, turkey, duck, lamb, or a medley ) once in 24 hours.

SS can you post a pic of your "over sized " 70 lb dog?

Okay, with that sort of work, she'd have a lot of muscle on her, which would account for the weight.

Going back to my post about the Carmspack female:

1) She was BARKING at the decoy, not trying to take a piece out of him.

2) Carmspack is right here in Ontario, and I've seen quite a few of their dogs. Visit their website: they don't breed nervebags! They are an old-fashioned breeder that believes a GSD can still do multiple jobs and do them all well: sport dog, guide dog, police dog and family pet/protector of the home.

3) You get what you select for in breeding any animal. If ball drive and hunt drive are your main selection criteria, you're going to get a prey monster. If that's what you want, fine. But it's not what this breed was intended to be.

Quite a few folks on here talk but the only pic we ever see from them is a tiny 2 cm square pic in their avatar.

Mithuna, this is the best I could find. It was taken last spring at the beginning of the season, and she was shedding big time. She was 8 years old. (She's now retired, thought I'll probably still do some tracking and OB with her, if I can find the time.) She was 6 when we started schutzhund, and got her BH a year later.

Some other pics taken the same day, just for you, Mithuna!

Is she Mal / GSD  mix?

She's a very faded black and tan GSD, an Ursus grand-daughter. The other side of her pedigree is American show lines. Not the ideal schutzhund bloodlines, but I think she could have gotten an IPO 1 if we'd started earlier.

I like a GSD with lots of physical substance.
