Hang in there, you'll make it one way or another. Funny about the Flintstones, though, I thought you were kidding! LOL Keep an open mind, you might be rescued yet by some strapping, muscle-bound, hero type who has an inherited, original pin-up poster of Farah Fawcet. Did you forget to send out your cougar growl to communicate your distress?

Are you anywhere near Cumberland?  I have an Aunt who may be willing to put you up for a day or two.  Let me know!

Oh no!  Shelley, between you and Steph the rest of us will have nothing but good luck because the two of you are hogging all the crappy luck.  Keep us informed of your luck (or lack of it) and your whereabouts.  Hole up someplace warm when you can and hang in there.  You have a lot of people pulling for you.  Oh, and you can cut all the hair off that you want to...you have the cheekbones for it.  You can pull it off.

Are you still stuck at the fire house in Allegany County?

She keeps this crappy string of bad luck up and I'm going to borrow my friend's Clydesdales and REALLY drive her to California. Might just get there before June!

I am in La Vale, MD, (edge of Cumberland) at the Red Roof Inn. The van is (finally) in a transmission shop in Frostburg. Seems like a good shop owned by a mature gentleman who I suspect can put a transmission together in his sleep. When he walked out from behind a lovingly restored vintage tow truck, in the shop he'd probably been working in all his life, and greeted me by name, I admit to having strained my eyes looking over his shoulders for signs of wings. ;-)

This would almost be an adventure if it weren't for a few little things like winter weather, responsibility for lives other than my own, lonliness and oh... that hole in the budget where the slush fund should have been.
People are really nice here, over all, very community minded. I suspect this is a wonderful place to settle down and raise a family is one is so inclined. Trouble is, that was not my intent when I turned onto I-68 last Thursday night. :-/

Has it really been nearly six months since I started this pilgrimage? Should I start praying for Moses to part the Rocky Mtns now, or is that a little premature, given the obstacles still ahead before that one?

I would like to take this time to publicly thank my ex-to-be for launching that lawsuit against me on Oct 29 so I had to stay in the East an extra 6 weeks to appear in court, while winter blew in.

A little good news to wrap this entry up with---
My I-phone still works even after it fell out of my pocket loading the van onto the truck time before last, when the wrecker ran over it. The screen is cracked but when I reset it, it woke right up. :-))))

The dogs seem perfectly happy with all of this, now that they are safe and warm. This is one of the nicest Red Roof Inns (the budget-minded dog trainer's inn of choice ;-)  I have been in. I just hope its not my last stop before the Salvation Army shelter. Ha ha ha.
