Kind of looks just like typical grade horses.  Could be  some Paso  in there,  not an uncommon mix, at least  in the west, and they are small usually with smallish feet and longish heads.

The first one looks like it has Arabian in it and the bay looks like it could be a Paso Fino (they can range from 12 to 15 hands). Definitely not mustangs- hooves are much too refined, among other things.

Thanks, all. They are just so stinkin' small I was very curious. They are MAYBE 12 hands. Their hooves are very tiny. I will see if I can spare a few and see what they're like.

I'm in Chicago,BTW,for those who wondered where they were.

You are a good person Jenni .... get rid of the lice first thing, do a good worming with something mild like strongid,
dose again with strongid in two weeks after first dose. Quarantine because of stress respiratory may come on and you do not want the your other horses getting it.
I am sure you will have the vet do a check of the teeth for floating. Good luck
Always,
Cee

I have another place to keep them until I know they are 100% healthy. The super skinny one just looks so awful. He hardly has any teeth, and I bet he's in his late 20's...at least. They always look older when they're this bad though, so I could be wrong. He just deserves someone to be nice to him. He's the sweetest thing. Even if I end up having to put him down, at least he'll have had a while to live with kindness and good food. We'll see how the little ones turn out. I was in the market for a pony anyway.

K9 Queen,

Thanks for the education....I thought Fino's had bigger feet with lots of hair......I was only guessing.  I wonder what I am thinking of them?  Hmmmmmmmm...........................

I think I was thinking about Friesian's...............sigh......I am mostly familiar with Quarter Horses, POA, Thorough Breds a very few warm bloods and grade horses being that I am in Oklahoma.  If it can't work cattle most people don't have a need for them here.

They look like Hackney ponies. A few people I know just picked up a few at the local auctions here in FL. Most were on the thin side and had the same look about them as these guys. They tend to have a cone shaped rear end, are smaller in height, and tend to have a bit of knee action in their movement.

Here is a pic of one of the Hackney ponies picked up at auction in FL. Maybe it will give you an idea. She was a registered Hackney pony, too.

Jenni,,,,You are taking on a big responsibility,,,,It is a kind and generous act of kindness,,,

Common bred horses are harder to find homes for then cats...My family was just talking about this today. We saw an ad in the paper for a free " aged mare"....broke my heart.....

                                                      Deanna.....
