Two Moons

LOL.....

I must admit to having much difficulty in breaking my dogs of their cat fetish.

They must taste very good.

DebbieSue,
Cat pooh is like crack to a dog, LOL.....I  Iike that.

Any one who has had  Canadian Honkers land and leave hundreds
of goose turds by where you take your dogs for walks. Has seen the
dogs go into a feeding frenzy. Goose turds are gross.

but have you tried them on a Ritz cracker?

2Moons,
Are you saying  that goose liver and goose turd are very similar?

by TessJ10 on 02 June 2010 - 19:06

Aw, c'mon, Phil, no one is saying have a conversation with the dog.  Command and short, sharp correction if he disobeys.  If Ruger wants to say Leave it again to the puppy, fine.  But the problem is he obviously hasn't been reinforcing it.

Guess you don't say Revier or Voran or Voraus or Gib Laut or Pass Auf or Pfui to your dog ever, right?  After all, they are multi-syllable commands just like Leave It - LOL.   So what do you use instead of these too-long words?

With some fava beans and a nice Chianti?

This is a ton of information.... Although  "Leave It"  probably wasn't the best word I could have chosen, I am certain that he knows what I mean when I use it. I am sticking with it to avoid confusion if only for my own  sake trying to remember what word to use. My guess is that I have not followed through with  a consistent/ effective correction after he ignores the command. I am going to keep him on a leather lead so I have more control over the correction. Thanks for the great posts everyone!!!!!  Sorry to have brought up such a stinky topic,,,LOL

LOL, LOL, hah hah hah, they're not corrections that require instant response.  5 commands will teach basic in home obedience and cover everything your dog needs to know,,,simple.  Heel, sit, down, stay and come.  NO would be a sixth, kinda like A,E,I,O,U and sometimes Y.  Simple mono syllabic words like fuss, sitz, platz, bleib and hier.  Sharp commands that require instant sharp response.  Go ahead Tess, hold a conversation with your dog, may I suggest one of the Romance languages??  LOL, LOL, hah hah hah, blah blah blah.

Ruger 1,
If you don't use exclamation marks in your topic title  "    "     than people
don't have to add a topic to there reply   like Ruger 10/20. It was a good topic on
 word commands I think.

Phil,
the Chianti is fine without the beans or goose.

I thought this was a very interesting topic.....

Wolfinbok...I won't be putting anymore exclamation marks... this way Phil can't change my topic title..heehee

Am I odd?? ...or are others a little intimidated by this board....phew..this was stressful..
