Once, this drunk ass teazed him over the fence. half an hour later, and in the ER.... my dog became a liability, he jumped the 6.5 foot fence with a barb wire on it and massacred the guy, he himself had to have bunch of stitches from the jump.... That is your "real dog". The doctor bill I had to pay for a LONG, LONG time was a lesson for me....thank God I was in Europe, because my dog would be P/D in the USA (most likely)
Just a good dog, no wonder, tained by good people and with a lot of knowlege. I am not bragging, there is nothing to brag about- he was a nice working dog with a sport title that had my little brother attach to his tail when he learned how to walk! There is a lot of good dogs out there! yours is not that special..... !
my dog wasn't that special. He was special and unique to me because I owned him.
Good luck

Genetics plays a big roll in a dog but also the way it is raised. You can have a dog with great bloodline and genetics but the wrong person raised it you can have a crappy dog....or someone that can bring out the best of that dog.I can see it with the dog i took from some people that just let it grow up in a fenced in yard with barely any interaction with people and became attached to the Rott they had.If someone else (like me) were to have raised him he wouldn't have the issues he does now....why could I would have exposed him to everything there is.like I have with all the other dogs I have raised.
OBGS- What are you talking about?

The German Shepherd Dog breed was created out of dogs that were sheep herders and along with that came natural protective instincts. They worked on their own tending to their master's sheep and protecting the flock from outside threats. They were highly regarded dogs because of their ability to think and assess situations without the constant help of their master. They were not crazy dogs that would run around and bite things indiscriminately.
So, really, what is "Old Style" vs. "New Style"?
I would think that the "Old Style" dogs are those that are bred to be like the original German Shepherd Dogs. There are probably very, very few of these type of dogs around anymore because the breed has been taken in so many different directions. All of these different directions, including Onyx's dog, are, to me, the "New Style" of German Shepherd Dog.
Saying that your dog is the "Old Style" of GSD is a lot of bullshit by people who don't really understand what that is.
I believe that someone mentioned above about the DDR dogs. Those who "think" that they have the dogs that were being produced by the East German government to prevent its citizens from escaping to the west are sadly mistaken. Those dogs, the dogs that lined the borders are not "Old Style" GSD's. They were another "New Style" of GSD that was taken in a specific direction for a specific reason. Those dogs no longer exist, nor do their progeny. They were all shot to death by the government when East Germany ceased to exist.

I can get out of dog genetically within 3-5 generations what ever was there before.
No problem there.
As far as the video goes, all I see is a alder dog who probably will bite, barking on the leash. No ofense but any Chihuahua will do the same.

I am not speaking of the Czech border patrol dogs. I am speaking of the GSD's used by the East German government. Those that had no handlers. The dogs that lined the fences. They were all shot.
I do agree with your assesment of the dog in the video. Nothing special going on there.
