Pharaoh

by Pharaoh on 25 December 2009 - 22:12

Merry Christmas Shelly.

I just spoke to a friend up in Flagstaff-Williams.  It is FREEZING there and lots of accidents on the hwy 40 (old route 66).  They are skidding on the ice because they are driving too fast.  He said it is young drivers.

This is a cold winter, colder than last year and that was a cold one.

Avoid high altitudes is my advice.  Route 10 is longer but it might be safer.  Talk to the American Automobile Association and they can advise you about routes. If you are not a member, just ask someone who is.

God bless you and keep you warm and safe.

Yes, I too see somewhat of a resemblance to Farrah.
Go ahead Shelley, strike a pose like Farrah and snap a pic then put it up for your avitar.
Merry Christmas!  Wishes for a safe journey.

Thanks for the weather updates. I am a AAA-Plus member. Can't believe they still give member FREE state tour books with all kinds of  great info. Hodie sent me a super weather map link that works well on th I-Phone anywhere with ATT service, which is darned near everywhere. Chances are I won't get out of here till Wed-Thursday at the earliest, may have to swing WAY south from the get-go instead of cutting southwest through WV and KY. If this series of storms in nearly the whole country doesn't ease up I am going to end up driving 4K miles for a 2800 mile trip, but hey, Peggy says its 50F during the day at the other end of the map today. :-)))
I remember when I used to think 50F was cold. LOLOL

I never cease to be amazed at what an awesome resource this board is. Whether its emergency advice for a first timer on a 3am whelping issue, or the weather forecast in Bumf-ck, South NoWheresVille... just ask!  I am proud to be a long time member of this group, despite the occasional bad-actor/crook/whatever... The "core" membership is solid gold IMO, and there are a LOT of the latter than the former!

Merry Christmas Friends, and may God (or whoever/whatever you believe in) bless you,
...today and EVERY day.

Yours truly,
Shelley Strohl
---who would LOVE to look like Farrah. Ha ha ha

Don't be surprised if I cut even more off, so it all looks like the front, come spring in California.
As the smart veteran beautician who took the first few incehs off in WI wisely advised:
BABY STEPS.

Shelley,

If you're going to be in Carbon cnty and want me to get some of your stuff to you (the coats?) give me a day and time and we'll meet. If there's no opportunity to do that, best of luck to you on that drive and a safe arrival wherever 'home' is.

Elapse time broke down in Western Maryland: Approaching 4 days.
Those transmission thingies can really mess up a trip, especially when you fry 'em in the middle of nowhere with 6 dogs on board... on a holiday weekend.
At this rate, we should see the Welcome to California sign sometime around June.

Tranny expert (old-timer, small, well-respected local shop, with 1,000's of trannies behind him) hasn't got it all the way out yet, but sez he's driven it, not ready to give the existing unit the last rites yet.

Oh no!

So much for the romanticism of a road trip.

Flintstone Volunteer Fire Department had a very slow New Year's weekend this year. I kept hoping some great-looking firefighters would show up and offer me some chili, or a place to warm up, or a shower or something.
No such luck.

It wasn't as cold as it looks. It was COLDER. When was the last time you reached under your blanket and found a GSD, then reached under your pillow for your bottle of water, only to find it frozen solid? LOLOL

We are warm and safe and fed now, thank God, holed up in a Red Carpet Inn. X yer fingers "Spot" (the 92 GMC Conversion above) isn't pronounced "Terminal", and there is something left in the kitty for gas when/if we get moving again someday.

Auntie Shelley is terrified of life-threatening weather of any kind.
She is also NOT "tough".
Tough.... is thumbing one's nose at adversity. Getting through crap like this is merely survival.

If any of you know staff at this FD, please thank them from the guest they may not have ever known they had for nearly 24 hrs. LOLOL
