I agree that some of the protestors surely fail to fully understand the ramifications of climate change. This is also true of most of the rest of us.
If skeptics are correct, then we may make it until 2100 or beyond without a major problem.
If the protestors are right, we are running out of time, now.
Say you don't know who is right. If you think there's even a small chance we are already in trouble, you should want to do something about it now.
No one has to be sure that something terrible is going on in order to want to logically do something about it. All you have to be is NOT sure that you are absolutely right.
But it is sad that some people think that the people who are tearing down fences trying to do what they think is right and necessary DESERVE to be bitten.

I think people who don't go to protests really have no idea how quick things can turn dangerous. For me as a regular protester for any and all Unconstitution policies learned this quick with my own mentality.
Back during the primaries all the Ron Paul MeetUps had mandatory security courses on 10 digit crowd moral and peace-full interaction to opposition. This course alone and contact numbers was priceless I later found out. It doesn't matter what state prolly doesn't matter what country .. there is always a central command. I tried one of those numbers at a Town Hall Meeting a few months ago, after I had exhausted my peace-filled state of mind for the first time ever at a protest.
To make a long story short, this old man and lady was being totally verbally abused about their view on not wanting Obama Care. Now, there was this younger person drilling them with lies and pointing fingers right up in their faces, seriously yelling bad words and all .. this younger idiot was inciting the entire crowd and painting themselves as an open target ... I myself had to walk right up to the idiot with furry .. I could not believe this person was speaking to this older man and lady in the manner he was, I have never in my life seen older folk so verbally abused... the older folk were shaking so bad I thought they would drop over dead with a heart attack. I had to do something .. I wanted so bad to just knock the traitor out cold, but so did everyone else, lol. So, in-stead I called one of the numbers programed in my phone from that course ... I swear it was only 3 minutes later and a huge State Police Officer walked right up to me, read my nametag, stepped infront of me .. and said to the traitor is there a problem.
Jesus, I had a tears in my eye as he took him away.
That traitor was about to be pumbled by a whole crowd of folk if that Officer didn't show up within minutes. I just know it.
It only takes one idiot and a fraction of a sec for things to get very very dangerous. That was my worse moment in all protests since my first Tea Party in Dec 2007.

They have their own agenda and its never good.
Ignore mouthy people, do not argue with them, its the wrong place for a discussion.
Beware of those holding objects in their hands for the purpose of throwing at police lines, you may unwittingly become a target just by being near such people.
When the shit hits the fan move left or right, never ahead or backwards, keep moving.
If your on fire drop and roll....
Ahh, the Sixties...........

You do have to distance yourself from those who would rabble rouse, those who got bit by the K9s were in the wrong.

Moons - did you come to DC in the 60's to protest?

Bucko - I believe that B.E. said the person was up "in the face" of an elderly couple and saying horrible words to them. That is not "peaceful" protest. Are you an anarchist?
