The Chicago temps were in F. Its COLD. We did get up to 2 this afternoon! We went out for space heaters for the basement too, same temps and furnace was working fine, just could not keep the whole house warm. Head for a hotel if you need to fellow Chi-towner!
Imagine how horrid we felt when we found out we were colder than alaska!

A balmy 7 degrees here my part of NJ. Luckily the wind isn't bad, as things become a wind tunnel around here when the wind kicks up.

7 Dogs froze to death over this side, but they were the Doberman short hair dogs a great shame for the owners must have realised the weather would not suit them
Our G.Ss were okay they stuck it well outside but there kennels are double skinned with an insulation between timbers plus the floor is double skinned, But we kept a good check on them

We are also having heat issues!
The furnace is a steam gas furnace. So it needs water to heat the house. The tank that holds the water keeps getting burned through every few hours. So then no heat, and being this cold, the temp in the house drops pretty quickly!

The nice thing is the days have been sunny, without a cloud in the sky. Heck, I went cross country skiing yesterday, and LOVED it!. Not sure what the temp. was, but the weather site says the high yesterday was +3, and the low was -18 F.
It's all in what you're used to, and knowing how to dress. The way to cope, is to get out there, and enjoy it!
Yes, I'm a crazy Canuck, and I'd probably die of heat stroke if I moved south!
