Valk - man is in the animals natural areas, and builds towns across their migration/grazing routes. In fact, in Jasper, the town built an 'elk crossing' so that there would be less vehicle interactions. Because they keep building homes further and further up Westwood Plateau in Coquitlam, thereby encroaching into the animals natural habitat, there have been more bear interactions lately. This is partly due to ignorant people leaving bear attractants like garbage out overnight. We have to educate people on how to minimize attracting animals like bears to reduce negative wildlife interactions. Why should the animals suffer for our degradation of their environment?

I do not have a problem with managing wild stock, wether its about deer,boars, beers, wolfs etc. It is done all over the world.

I do have a problem with trophy hunting (remember Cecil ). Killing any creature to pose on pictures with or to display on the fireplace is despicable IMO.

Yes, Valk, that is what Peta would rather happen. Better yet, eliminate human populations so the bears don't get into the garbage.

Valk - if you included the following sentence after that one that you quoted, you would realize that I was referring specifically to Jasper National Park, and the wildlife crossing they made so the animals could get safely across the highway. Furthermore, if you would read my whole posts in this thread, you would see that I am not saying that man should stay in small settlements, but that man has to learn about wildlife and how to manage populations. For examle, highway 5 (Coquihalla highway) in BC is probably the safest one to drive in the province with regards to the least wildlife interactions because there is a 8' fence along it's length, with tunnels underneath it for wildlife to use for safely getting from one side to another. Educating people and properly managing wildlife (the fact that man has to 'manage' wildlife at all is in itself sad) to preserve animal populations for future generations is something that all governments should commit to.

My ex became a member of Safari Club International prior to our going separate ways.  I remember going to a few big meetings and dinners with him.  I was never so disgusted in my life.  Parading their trophies of the "Big 5" (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape Buffalo), talking about their near orgasmic or religious experience shooting some animal like an ibex or black giraffe, extol the virtues of one private game preserve vs. another, how to import trophies for the least amount, and so on.  They actually think they are helping with conservation, animal species preservation, helping prevent poaching, and so on.  Any trophy hunter has major ego issues in my book.
