I think Carl Lewis was the athlete who vehemently opposed participation of physically challenged persons with artificial limbs in the Olympics. His argument was that future advancements in technologies might one day enable the physically challenged sportspersons perform much better than the less fortunates.
And, shock collars really aren't THAT advanced a technology available only to the "fortunate" nations.

The point is...the IOC shouldn't be banning training technologies. The SV shouldn't be banning them either. The United States already obliges the international rules of not having corrective collars on the trial grounds once the trial is officially started and the score books are turned in. On top of that, if you get caught using one during the time your dog is entered in a trial you can also be disqualified. Controlling training in other countries because you didn't have enough power/support to not allow a law to pass in your home country is way out of line for any organization.

I'm not suggesting that uses of shock collars is detrimental to the breed, that'd be determined after YEARS of research and debates.
My point is, if the governing body passes a rule, you either abide by that, or you get out of that organization, and start your own breed, which then will NOT be a GSD.
It may not be illegal to produce 160 pounds dogs and call them GSDs, maybe they are way better than the dogs within the standard, but.....

Do you have any idea how the US clubs are affiliated with the SV, how breeding is done in the United States with the relation to the SV, or basically about anything that happens in the United States that has to do with German Shepherds? Americans have been breeding German Shepherds without any regard for what the SV has to say for decades now...

So yah... the dog has to be FCI, that's it and AKC is FCI.
by Swarnendu on 16 August 2016 - 05:08
"AKC is FCI" - Really! I thought AKC is just another member of FCI. A member that shows complete disregard to the views of ALMOST all the other members, an overwhelming majority, of FCI and WUSV regarding German Shepherd Dogs. Democracy!!

The entire thing is a sharade and farce and we all know it and that is whats pissing people off. It's not that the E collar is banned but that even WUSV judges are using it and get away with it behind closed doors and now they are supposed to punish their peers that are using it openly just like they are allowed to in their own country.
It's a farce!
