@ VK4GSD
The roots from most of the KNPV dogs is french and belgium ringsport there are many KNPV dogs in
the French and Belgium ring now and in the past, its all about condition and training .
KNPV dogs are prepared after PH-1 certified for real life situations what do you yhink what happened in real life situations ?
a good dog have to do his job in all and (not trained) scenarios
But the ring decoys are exellent I agree.
French ring helpers in some exercises they dodge the dog, KNPV helpers don,t ......other training , program
and rules.

Hund mutter if the decoy know this dog very well maybe with some good timing the dog could miss
but the speed is 30/40 miles a hour for a decoy who don,t know this dog it is very difficult for timing
I know this from 1st hand decoy myself. and its not always funny to get this flyers.
The stick attack front the rules are the decoy must run up rights again the dog.
The threat from the decoy is very important
From behind the decoy have mostly no any chance
But sometimes dogs would miss because their timing is no good, flyers looks very spectucular
the best option is the leg less chance for missing and injuries IMO , thats why some police departments
in Holland switch the dog from arm to the leg bite.

BM i am yet to see after years of looking that the roots of all IPO, KNPV GSD are any different back 2 or 3 generations thereabouts.
don't know about mals.
and precisely my point, the dog KNOWS the decoy will be there at the end of it's trajectory BECAUSE of it's conditoning, just like the IPO dog KNOWS at trial he will get a close to perfect left arm presentation (hopefully).
no different to football or any high impact full contact sport, just physics.
as for real life i might take you up on the fact that i honestly believe i could quiet easily make that dog miss, in fact i am sure of it. the dog would get me after say the second or third miss because it would be up close and not have time to generate such a great launch velocity.
with such a long take off it is no great feat of a decoy to take one step to the side and dog is in low flying orbit, in real life i would be happier to see that dog slow down the entry the last few meters and launch from a closer range unless the decoy was in full escape mode with his back to the dog, but a staionary decoy facing the dog, dog has no chance to change direction once it's feet are off the ground and it is not faster than say a human response time of about 0.7 seconds or less at that speed and launch distance, should i do the math for you?
a few misses can rattle a dog's mind that would otherwise appear to be a high flying super-star.
just my opinion based on physics not catching dogs.

That was what I wondered about. So which of you is right ? Anybody
got any film of a decoy jinking away at the crucial moment ? Or is it
really all too fast for that ?

Hundmutter I have decoy many dogs if you know the dog than you can prepare on the attack
but the rules for decoys is run always right again the dogs NOT step aside , some decoys are not very sure they step aside
and this can be very dangerous situations for the dog KNPV handlers hate this decoys who step aside.
in real life situation with a prospect he will never expext this flying attacks he will freeze on long distance of course the dog can miss
thats why I say leg bite IMO is the best choice in real life situations with a full pushing grip.
And not all KNPV dogs are natural flyers than the attack/ timing is much closer and safer .

"the rule for decoys is run always right again the dogs not step aside" -
but BM mostly the decoy is walking AWAY from the dog in the long bite
in the video, so if a decoy ignored the rule and suddenly ran out to the left
would that not illustrate whether the dog was relying on the habit of training
that it would land on the decoy, or if in fact the dog was able to 'zero in' on
its target even where the target had shifted a bit ?

I,m talking about the stick attack the decoy is always run again the dog, de gun attack exercise the decoy run away from the dog decoy for a dog is more easy target if the decoy run away from the the dog with his back.
because the decoy have less eye contact.
Thats why it is very important to train with different decoys not every decoy run the same
That why KNPV have many training days on different ground with different decoys.
Other stick attacks in slowmotion different dogs different decoys
