Zdog here is why I say 3 seconds as the OP who by the way has not answered to question what could have been done.

The OP posted the Topic

Innocent young Rottweiler killed by a stupid guy with license to kill innocents

All the other stuff posted by the OP has very little to do with the topic unless it is to stir up a bash fest

I agree much could have been done before the shooting from 15 minutes to several years to have avoided this

The dog did snap at the cop when the cop tried to grab his leash. At least this cop attempted to control the dog before he killed it. Wondering

Ok, 2 lessons learned last week - never hold a garden nozzle without the hose attached because the cops will kill you and never film cops with your dog because cops will kill the dog.

I got this. Thinking

To Sunsilver: We are going to give you the same coin back. We have never made any statement in general talking about every single person who makes comments in this site. We make references about SOME people NOT EVERYBODY. You are absolutely right saying we don't know everybody here, but if you read what we wrote again you will realize we said SOME PEOPLE. Now, we have to tell you that in 30 years that we have been in the working dogs industry we might know more people here in this market than what you might know yourself. You make references in general, WE DON'T. You can not say "YOU DON'T KNOW US", because until we know you aren't the one who represent everybody here, or is there any Union here? If that's the case, we apologize, sorry, we did not know that. You are the one who don't know us. So, you are the one who can not say we don't know people here to make our statements, because you don't really know us, and we really know a lot of people here, and people who knows others here too. But, that is not the point. The point is you don't want to be judged, and you are judging others, Funny, right?
To EuroShepherd: We have to tell you that making impressions is not a way to make business. Impressions don't make business, but satisfaction does in this case (working dogs industry). Impressions in this market is for rookies, satisfactions is for experienced people. We can see clearly the way you make business. We can see clearly how many dogs you have sold and trained at least in this site. WE NEVER ATTACK NO BODY!!! We respect everybody even the ones who are not agree with us (it is not like you mentioned before/ show us the proof for that statement). Now, you can not expect anybody respecting you when you disrespect them, right?. We are ok, when you say you have never been disagree with us, but neutral, and now your opinion is negative. That the way you think, we respect that, but you can not say we attack others because they are not agree with us. We defend ourselves when some has offended us like beetree saying we are idiots only because we posted a video that has been in the internet everywhere. We have never posted anything again anybody here, even though we are disagree, but we won't accept vulgar offenses. We can clearly see again how good is your business in this market so that you can mention how poor we are making comments, and how bad is our comments for business image. We will like to know, the name of your business, and all of the seminars you have had to teach other how make business image. At least we use our real name, not a fake one. We are who we are everywhere. We don't disguise ourselves for nothing. So, why if you are that good making business you disguise yourself. We have been looking for a site with this name and we did not find anything, but maybe we are wrong, you will tell us the real name of your business. We are pretty sure we can learn a lot about it. We don't need anything to make impressions. Our business is to give satisfactions, not impressions. We don't want people to be impressed, but to be satisfied. We have to say congratulations to you for all of the impressions you have made on others. Like we say, we are open to learn from everybody, so we will wait for your lessons. Thank you so much. We are so sorry for any inconvenience.
Now, we think that there is not a rules book so that people can use just to know what should be posted here or not. Someone here from the Adm told us once here you can write and say whatever you want respecting everybody, because the free speech, and we agree with that. Free speech is very important. We know a lot of people here who are afraid to post something because the think they can be attacked. But when you go behind the history of those attackers (some of them, AGAIN!!! of course, SOME PEOPLE attack having the reason, OTHER NOT. Those who have not the reason, and write something without fundament never have any history behind them to support their attack. We've seen a lot of statements here very very impressed, but behind them, we've seen a great history too. It is very hard to listen to some one who has nothing to show to confirm he/she is right. We reserve the right to explain why we posted this video. We have seen worst things here, and nobody has said anything, so, why us? It is free speech or not? We are looking justice for animal cruelty or not? We the animal lovers, have not right to defense our animals seeing things like that? Go to the internet  (a lot of sites) and you will see how many people have joint to this campaign. Thank you so much for your time.

Yes, the police could possibly have done things differently, but the onus still lies with the owner of the dog.  He is the one that ultimately put his dog in that horrible situation to begin with.

My dog would have reacted exactly the same, which is why I'd have never expected her to stay in a car loose, with the window down! while I went about handling some personal grievance in totally the wrong manner.

It is up to each owner to work toward deserving what their dog gives without hesitation according to my Oma (loyalty, love, forgiveness, protection, etc).  There were plenty of mistakes to go around, but ultimately, it is up to the dog's owner to behave in a manner that is deserving of his dog.

My trainer friend began to teach LEOs and FFs how to handle dog situations after there were a few to many incidents of dog bite injuries and a couple too many dog shootings.  One officer lost fingers because he did not want to shoot the dog in front of the young children, another lost her career after being bitten on the arm.  I could go on.  My friend always taught them make sure the dog was secured or call animal control, as a last resort do not hesitate to shoot.

I don't put much into what the OP says based off of several factors but outright lies like this ad are the big reason. http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/classifieds.viewad?adid=195486

100% titled lineage best blood lines in the world. Oops forgot to mention the parents are not titled.

That being said as a former state trooper I can tell you that officer safety comes first and that I would more than likely killed that dog as well. Once he snapped nipped etc you never know what is coming next. My training officer lost his job and for all intent and purposes his right hand because of a very similar situation. Sorry my job and health come before your dog that you put in a situation it shouldn't have been.
