I love the liver color but have never been able to find one.
Blindly following that which is determined to be "faults" , rather than changing the standards when those alleged "faults" turn out to be based on nothing more than superstition, is frankly stupid.
so..... bring on the livers!

You look younger than i picured you to be, Very nice photo
Why bring up an old thread again, over two years old i do not see the point in it, and the posts on colour of the German Shepherd Dog sure does get the colour RED flashing in some peoples eyes when the colour Blue or Liver is mentioned

I appreciate lovedemdogs' approach to the subject. I am new to this forum and will try to post the pictures of them.
To see, extensive photos of both blues, pandas and livers, solid, coated, etc, go to http://www.k9-pines.com/.
Melisa is doing a great job with the color dogs, as is Dawn at http://www.geocities.com/angelicshepherds/
I aquired my liver from k9pines and have a 4 month old black and female from Dawn that carries for both liver and blue that I would stack against any geman shepherd anwhere.
Education is truly the key here. There are tons of genetic defects passed by all breeds, regardless of color. To recognize and do our best to weed out what we find to be a true genetic health problems, instead if blanketing a whole subject such as color with out understanding it and calling it a defect is just ignorant and allowing "a few" powers that "be" use their opinions to determine what is acceptable in a "breed standard".
I apologize if I sound combative on the subject, I don't mean to, we all have our opinions on confirmation and everything else concerning these magnificent dogs. I hope we can all agree though that what is important is the wellbeing of the german shepherd in general. There are breeders out there of "acceptable breed standard" pigmentation knowingly passing horrific true genetic health defects.

Uberland- if these rare color people are serious, in addition to all necessary health tests they also need to start TITLING their dogs. But it will never happen, because these people don't give a damn about the preservation of the GSD, only the ego of their dog having puppies and the couple bucks it brings. You can tell me until you are as blue as your dog how much you care about the breed. Have you ever set foot on a working field or ring of ANY kind? A "breeding" dogs qualifications, or lack thereof, says it all.
Uberland also makes a good point about the ears and other faults. Do you people understand that you are not being attacked for color alone? People are up in arms because you are spitting on the standard. It's no different that if you were breeding dogs with very bad structure, terrible nerves, poor health, or grotesque dental faults.
So I just looked at that site: even if all those dog were correct colors they would be atrocious. bou mom, it's clear you love the GSD. You owe it to yourself to learn a lot more about what makes a good one.
