Just a footnote.I last saw Melissa Kolbe when I picked up Mars von ajaye from her "home" she was building in Harrodsburg,Ky.The vet she was using is named R,Paul Bosse commonwealth Animal hospital in Harrodsburg,Ky.I am going to try and call him tomorrow and see if he is still in contact with her.

I've just read this string and am so sorry to hear of your loss. I too suffered a heart-wrenching death of a GSD that I purchased from this woman. Not only did I never receive my pup's papers, but she began to have seizures at about 2 years old. That was just the beginning of an auto-immune disorder, which was further complicated by diabetes, that took her life at the far too young age of 5. The final 24 hours of my beautiful dog's life are still too painful to talk about, even though it has now been 2 years. I tried to contact Kolbe several times to let her know about the epilepsy as soon as my beautiful girl was diagnosed so that Kolbe could inform other owners of dogs from the same litter....and stop breeding that line. She never returned my calls. I would urge anyone who is considering purchasing a dog from her to run the other way as fast as they possibly can.

Dear Upsman, I'm so sorry your dear friend died so young. There are no words to take away your pain. I can only offer my heartfelt sympathy.

I'm very sad at your loss, its bad to lose one at 10-15 years but to be shocked at early age of three is hadly fair.....Find another pup asap, and this time ask for a client list( reference list) and it had better be a long one, or run as fast as you can and talk to the vets that breeder uses.....

You would think the breeder would want to know, so they can stop breeding. Even, if only in for the money, to many complaints. I am very sorry for your loss, It HURTS to lose one you love.

I believe Ajaye is breeding Dachshunds now.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. while it is good to share your love with another, do not try & replace your friend. That can not be done. Give yourself time to greve, and only when you are ready, open your hart to a new friend. understand that every dog has a diffrent personality. While I can understand all to well wanting your next dog to be just like the one you lost, It wont happen that way. I say this to help anyone who might go through what I did. I lost my beloved friend at the age of 3. I thought my life would end but it did not. I went on to buy a grand daughter, a son, a high drive dog that looked just like him, but none could compare. It has taken a few years for me to relize that Alero can never be replaced. I simply remember the good times and apriciate the lessons he tought me. I hope your hart is big enough to carry you through this sad time. I will keep you in my thoughts. JoAnn

jletcher18, I am sure that you are sincerely sad for the loss but are you JoAnn or John? It would appear that you forget from time to time who is Jlether18@yahoo.com Hmmmmm Where is Smitty???

JoAnne, I am not sure that that is good advice. His friend cannot be replaced regardless of the passage of time. It took me over 20 years to get another dog after my Chinook was killed and I am so sorry that I took so long. The attitude to take is that the next one is not a replacement but a different, unique entity bringing their own joys.
