Mike Sr. continues to live and operate the Baden K9 facility in southern Ontario (where he's been for years).

Their website is:  www.badenk9.com/phpv/home.php

You should have no trouble contacting them there.

Maybe you can find the elusive "Mike" playing fetch with the imaginary "Gunther" in fantasy land 1944 Nazi Germany where you will find them sitting baffled and confused by old dog training books.  Just a random idea.

I would have to agree with Phil for the most part.
Mainly because the training tactical military use
of Canines is much different than what Mike implies...

However his observation that the hospitals now days are beginning the look
like third world MASH units, ...is right on. I have had that experience.

But lets look at what Mike say, this is his philosophy in his own words.
I don't know Mike.

quote:

The world of dogs is a wide and wonderful world. It is however fraying at the seams. The old saying of 'use it or lose it' is all to true. True too, is genetically alter it and lose it or breed in vanity breed out usefulness. We produce retrievers that cannot retrieve, working dogs that have no, or very little, working drive or physical prowess to perform the work.
Our breeding program requires the dogs prove themselves firsthand before reproducing their lines. To ensure our children the availability of good dogs, handlers and trainers, we must produce them today.

Many of us sit behind desks or in front of televisions, never experiencing the need or the desire to apply our natural abilities. Soon they are forgotten, lost forever and life's problems and emergencies become overwhelming obstacles. It is my firm belief that the dog is the last live frontier. To learn to give what he gives freely, to seek to understand that which drives such selfless friendship, this would be true discovery.

Working Service Training at Baden K9, in many ways, goes against all you may have believed in, in training techniques. Yet it works, creating both stability in dog and handler. As well, creating a dog willing and able to track and protect a lost child or to apprehend and contain a hostile fugitive. Rain, snow, fire and other types of obstacles are faced and overcome willingly and faithfully.

sting369:

After making a remark like this you should stand by your words by posting your name for the world to see.

It might sound to some that you are implying that "Mike" is a Nazi and that Guenther does not exist. This might be considered slanderous.

Is your name fides?

by fides on 19 November 2010 - 17:11

Phil  Behun:

The comments I make are not along the same lines as most I read on this board.

To use anonymity as a shield when casting disparaging meritless slanderous comments is cowardice.

Again, is your name fides?

by fides on 19 November 2010 - 19:11

I believe there are valid security reasons why boards permit the use of "usernames". I have not and will not join ranks with those who misuse this board. If individuals elect to slander the names of others or discredit them unjustly they should drop the anonymity and identify themselves. It is a simple matter of respect and decorum.
