Mirasmom,

I disagree with the comment that your dog would be faulted for his coat.  I've seen stock coats longer than his.  He looks to me to have a nice coat.

He looks to have good bone, appears well balanced (considering his stack or lack of).  He is fat!  Try to get some weight off of him and his neck will look "cleaner".  He has a roll over his hip and no tuck.  It is hard on their hips to carry too much, also his feet.  If the judge said to trim his nails be sure to do that so he doesn't appear splay footed.  I like his head and expression, very manly. His withers look a little low so his neck & head carriage appear low but if we had a proper stack that could be corrected if it's just the pic.  And I don't think he is short as far as length either so don't over stretch him in a stack.  I'm sure it's the angle of the pic that make him look short legged and I can't tell how deep his chest is but his ribs appear to be well sprung.

I think you should skip the AKC show and find you a German conformation show to enter him in.  I believe you have a nice dog and should take the steps to show him in the proper venue.  I used to think AKC was the be all, end all but after seeing what some of those judges put up I'm done with it.  Check out my comments on the other thread about showing and brush up on your running.

Most of all, enjoy him!

Jenni,

Caleb is a big boy.  It's hard to tell from a pic how tall they are.  I agree about too long a back being a problem in working but I still don't consider him extreme as far as him being too long.  I feel my girl is too long and Caleb doesn't appear to be as long as Echo.  A properly "standard" back will allow flexability in movement with speed and grace without hindering his working ability.

Aria is "flashy" looking or maybe I should say she has "presence" so it is easy to see why everyone goes nuts about her.  And I could tell she is a girl, she has a nice feminie head.  Just a little secret between you and me (LOL) I do not care for blacks.  Just my personal choice so it's really saying something for me to say I would take the black over the sable.  Your two could sway me.

Keep in mind they are pups so Anza could easily catch up or surpass Aria in agility one day. And I really like that last pic of Anza looking right at the camera.  Good to hear their eyes are actually darker than they appear.  Their coat condition is awesome.  Forgot to mention that before.

Thanks, Deb.

I don't really like blacks either,lol. I have 2 though.

I'm sure Anza can catch up to Aria...but there is something so beautiful about a pup that age who is THAT agile and catlike; you can't tell me that her structure isn't going to be an aid to her physically. I think what's functional is beautiful....if that makes any sense.

Their eyes are average...not too light, but not super dark like Caleb's. Caleb's eyes are so dark you can hardly pick them out of his face.

Here's a pic where you can see he's a little stretched:

Now I have to admit, that this 100lb dog is super agile for his size. He thinks he's a Malinois and is always doing some stunt to give me gray hair. He does NOT let his size slow him down.

This is fun. Interesting to see how other people perceive your dogs. Sometimes I think I'm too hard on mine, trying not to be "kennel blind."

Jenni,

That is good to hear!  When we decide that our dogs have no faults then we are not working to improve them.  Holy smokes, I had no idea Caleb weighed so much!  And even in the last pic, I still like the balance shown so I am still going to argue that he is NOT too long.  Guess we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this.  LOL!  I do agree with your comment though because form should follow function, no doubt.  Funny, when I pulled up your reply earlier the pic of the two pups charging the camera didn't come up.  Aria's lighter eyes make her look more intense, guess that's just part of her charm.  ;-)

Looking forward to seeing your booo.  I think it's fun to see what everyone thinks of our dogs.  Kinda brings us all back down to earth so to speak.  It's healthy to see your dog thru someone else's eyes.

Thank you, Snajper69. I really don't like most blacks either. I think he's pretty awesome, but I might be biased. LOL

Liesjers,

Sorry to take so long to get back to you but I LOVE your male.  Richly pigmented, lovely mask, well balanced, nicely angulated, I love the 2nd stack.  Couldn't improve on it!  What is going on with his ears by the way?  What is his pedigree?  Would you mind posting it?

Are you here in the states or across the pond?  Just being nosy!
