Sad, sad for the dogs. I NEVER take my dogs anywhere other than the club training fields/trials/shows when the temp is over 65. No where. At club training /trials/shows, the windows are DOWN, the back is OPEN, the sun-roof is OPEN, PLUS, I have a Joe Shade Umbrella, as well as a 8 foot patio umbrella for shade. That said, everything stated about this woman fairly screams irresponsible. Even if she took pups back to a hotel, and left them in the room,while she trotted back to the show site, that is irresponsible. Her breeding practices are irresponsible. Having the dogs in a vehicle habitually all day is irresponsible. Having dogs in a vehicle all day at 78 degrees is irresponsible. Claiming dogs are therapy dogs, or service dogs, when they are NOT is irresponsible, as well as dishonest.
Is there any consideration that this irresponsible person may simply have forgotten to even open the slide window (NOT that I think that would have been sufficient at 78 degrees)? Poor dogs. I hope they waiting at the Rainbow Bridge to rip a new one for whoever murdered them.
If the newspaper reports are even marginally accurate, her story is changing. Bottom-line: I won't be surprised, if she is prosecuted and I will definitely applaud it.

Whoever is responsible for the dogs' death in such a horrible way - it's all very sad for all involved but especially for the dogs.

I want to also echo Connie. The Canadians were VERY responsive to the unprecedented temperatures during the Canadian Nationals/SS. There were NO instances of dogs in distress, despite the fact that temps hit 105. Why? Because the scheduled was instantaneously changed so that the trial work was done from 6 am (5 am Sat) to about 10-10:30 am. Just as it really started heating up terribly (it was 80 at 6 am), it was time for all, including dogs, to go back to the air conditioned hotel, or homes. Then, there were flights from at 8-10 pm. Every effort was made to see to the dogs' comfort in the meantime: sprayers were made available, as well as several wading pools. Many people had pop-up tents over the vehicles. Vehicles were left open. It was too hot for any juvenile delinquents to be out looking for "something to do." There were too many people back and forth checking on dogs for even the most reprobate PETA terrorist to bother messing with the dogs, so no one had any concerns about leaving both sides and windows of vans open.
One query to those who work their dogs: Given that you have the dogs out for training on hot days. But, how often do you run errands with the dog(s) in the vehicle, when temps are above 70 or 75?

" I work about 4 miles from this vet. Eastpointe Vet has a small parking lot and absolutely NO SHADE, not even a small tree. We are a boarding kennel and do get quite a bit of boarding dogs that use Eastpointe Veterinary. I can tell you with no shade and the sun rising east which the parking lot faces, 78 degrees can easy get to 90 degrees in a enclose truck bed with a cap on. Customers and employees who use/work for this Vet have told us that Jennifer Rainey did leave the dogs in that truck over an extended period of time every time she worked there. She has been warned repeatedly that the dogs could overheat. Dogs should never be left in a Truck with a cap on! Trucks with caps get too hot too fast sliding windows open or not. A 500 Vari kennel easily hits the inside roof of a Doge Dakota cap (small truck bed&low cap). Between no airflow above the crate and the crate made out of plastic even if the very small sliders would have been open, these dogs did not have a prayer. Bottom line someone who works with animals (being a Dog Groomer) should have and DID know better. This was an accident waiting to happen. Jennifer has been told many times. " Noone else is to blame but Jennifer Rainey. She put the dogs in the truck and decided to keep them there. Her truck her dogs, her responsibility. Everytime I step in my car on a hot day I have to think about these dogs. I can not imagine in what agony the dogs must have been in before they died. SHAME ON HER!

I know of people who got persecuted for animal cruelty for lesser offenses than Jennifer Rainey obviously seems to be getting away with.
What are the rules with USA if killing 2 dogs? She claims to be a member.

A person who goes to our church was give the task of dropping his granddaughter at daycare on the way to work becasue the mother had a doctor's appt. He forgot. By the time he remembered it was 10:45 in the middle of a Houston summer. The baby died in the ambalance on the way to the hospital......very sad.....these things happen and it is tragic.

So, "someone " in Florida told her "something." Maybe I missed it, but I don't see where the PROSECUTOR said that.
