Good dog, not best of show and not the worse of pet.

He would make a impressive pet after all the breeder sold as pet. Normally many people would go buy a pet and expect it to be show in the end.

Good thing the breeder is willing to take him back, although I hope he is not going to be bred as he is not the best of the show lines as of yet. But he is still young, you always can do wonders to improve his appearences.

1) better photo

2) wait till he matures at 4

3) better food

4) exercise

5) condition

etc...

Srilankagsd, the critique is over, the dog is no longer wanted by the owner and is for sale.

I think he is a nice looking boy!   On the other hand when you ask for a critique being compared to the top line show dogs in the world you will be nit-picked as they all are when competing. The competition is very tough and every little detail can effect how your dog places.

I guess sometimes I still get shocked by some things. And I rarely ever get into such situations liek this.
First off, I cannot understand expecting people that you really don't know to give a serious conformation critique for a dog truly cared about, and base whether or not he's kept over such. I understand some people here are experienced and knowledgeable and can give a decent opinon; but there are obviously plenty who aren't so knowledgeable, thus their opinion wouldn't mean much. Why do this? Why not go to an actual SchH club local or something and have the dog evaluated in person so without a doubt you know exactly where you stand and what you still need to do or whatever? That would be the idealistic thing to do, if you want my thoughts.
How do you know without a doubt that people aren't giving a less than positive critique for the dog here so that when you apparently sell him, they can get him at a cheaper price than he deserves? You don't know all the people on her personally to trust everyone's judgement 100% is my point.

Secondly, why write an obvious decent GSD off as not worth keeping if other people you don't know don't think he's VA universal Sieger material? Goodness; even without the most insane of ball drives, he could still make for a nice AKC Rally and Obedience competition dog with a pleasant personality and be titled. And he could be a dependable, beautiful companion to enjoy for many years also. If you love him, why not go that route and still do something worthwhile with him?

I wonder personally if people just come here asking for a critique of their dog is just wanting praise and ego boosting. Maybe not all, but that sure seems like it part of the time. Does anyone else notice this, or is it just me?

Someone recently brought up in one of these threads about horse traders; people who don't truly value the animals for what they are, but rather keep a rather quick exhanging of hands going for them to make a quick dollar. Are you applying horse trader mentality to the German Shepherd world? You won't find supporters here if this is how you handle dogs. It's very sad. But don't base what you do with that male over other people's opinions.

I have been reading these past week posts (I have only been here a week) but what I keep getting is a blatant display of money grabbing at lovely dogs personal expense....why do so many ppl buy and hand off dogs so fast?? like a moving puppy mill?? I am not a breeder just love the breed but I was under the impression that breeders select dogs or bitches to build a good kennel not constantly go through dogs/bitches and treat them like a rent-a-car. This is my impression if it is not that way please enlighten me

Milli,

true breeders are doing just that! Selecting dogs or bitches to build a foundation. Enough said!

This "true breeder" was going to have Jax trained one day, the next day he was  up for sale. What about the dogs that gets passed from home to home never having a chance to bond with a human? It's disgraceful when a 2 year old dog has already had 3, 4 homes.

Excellent posts Katjo, Milli and Silbersee. Yes, folks, there are some who don't just turn over dogs like digging for clams at the beach. I am one who rarely breeds, but yes, I select my dogs carefully and am building a foundation. Silbersee and others also keep their dogs and build a kennel full of nice dogs.

But unfortunately, this original poster has now been shown to be one who does not give a hang about the dogs. And yes, more often than not, people post photos here not for a real critique from some of us who might be able to provide it, but to assuage egos or worse, for some other ulterior motive. This person apparently buys and sells like there is no tomorrow, knows little about the breed or training, and tries to pass dogs off when they are co-owned, supposedly doesn't give papers when due etc. etc.

Pathetic.

I think I've developed an ulcer with RR threads the past couple weeks.  Before last week I vaguely recall paying much attention to who this person was but after the past couple days it's definately not a name I will forget!

Can someone please just tell her that she has a high quality podium dog in her kennel so she stops selling so so dogs to people as show stoppers???  LOL

Where is RR from anyways?
