I agree with Ulli. Do your homework......

Ulli is also a very honest breeder...I have dealth with him and have no complaints. And I can be a pretty picky customer...because although I also breed, I too have gotten a bad deal and a very ill dog. Thank Ulli for being such a good person and breeder.

And thanks Allison for the compliments. Your male will go to the top!!!! It was hard to part with him but he is in SUPER hands...I coudn't ask for a better home.

Thank you Amy & Sue for your kind words.

Many bad experience can be prevented from the get go, if there is just a bit of reason involved. Sadly enough, bad things do happen, but such is life. A breeder can only do so much to prevent a bad outcome of his / hers breedings, but the precautions he should do, with the aim that the outcome of his breeding are better than the litter before. Then again, in a litter of 6, one pup will always be "the best", "the tallest" .... Just let them grow, it might look totally different in a couple of month !

Regards Ulli

Why dont you look into getting a rescue?

There are THOUSANDS of nice GSD out there looking for a home.   If you dont plan on working the dog and just want a companion...this may be the way to go.  You would not be paying $1000 for a puppy and could make a nice home for a dog in need.

I know....."you dont know what you are getting when you get a rescue"...that is not the case in all situations.  There are many people out there who are dropping their dogs off at the shelter because they just dong have time for a dog....the new husband or boyfriend does not like the dog...they are just bored with the dog...etc.  Many come with papers and ok blood lines.

I have been involved with a rescue group in the past year or so.  I have to say that for home companions most of the rescues are as nice as the top $$ dogs people are buying.  i wouldnt go looking for a working dog...but there are the working dogs  that people without a clue bought and cant handle...and now are in rescues.

I feel that a person who buys a GSD that was not bred to work is doing a rescue anyway....just paying big bucks for it.

If more people would go the rescue road it would keep alot of dogs out of shelters.  The first reason being that you are saving the rescue itself...the second it comes spayed or neutered (sp?)...so the new owner cant decide to breed it just because "its a great dog and I want to make a little $"....which would reduce the number of dogs in shelters.

Dont just go to the shelter and pick up a dog...you will have to put as much time into looking for the right rescue dog as buying one...in the end you will save some $$ and a life.
