Glad you made it home safe and intact.
Former 7th ID Light - Manchu 91-95
Personal Note:
It never was and never will be "An Army of One". It is an Army of brothers fighting along side one another because that is what they are trained to do. When the shit hits the fan and its asses to elbows they fight for there brother to the right and to the left, not for country, family, God or politics.

Hi Funk Man,
Welcome home and thank you, thank you to all that are still there. While I do not support the war I do support the people that have done their duty and served because it was their duty and they were given orders.
Thank you for the information about helping out the families, it is very easy to get involved in our own lives and forget about such situations others have.
After reading your post, I realized the destination of the numerous bags of baby clothes still sitting in the extra bedroom waiting to be taken out - upon your suggestion they will be going to the local Military base and their families. Trust me when I say it is alot:) Also Madeleine and I will make a stop by Toys R US along the way and pick up some goodies for the children and take with us. It may not be much in the big scheme of things but after reading your email I realize it is the little things that can help these Military families so much. And I am sure just knowing that the normal citizens support them and think about them would be nice.
My knitting team here recently completed a project of 2400 "caps" - these were designed and done to wear under soldiers helmuts to help absord the sweat and help keep their heads from being chapped so bad by the rubbing of the helmuts due to the horrible heat and sand and elements. I am told they were a big success and we are working on more!!!
Thanks again to everyone, bu thank you Funk Man for your insight and thought provoking words!

I'd love to ask some questions about the blatant lies in these posts.

You are right on the money about the difficulties our service members have when deployed to these dangerous places and about how difficult it is for many military families to make ends meet. My husband (he's active duty) and I do okay, but there are plenty who do not. Even an offer of support or an expression of gratitude goes a long way for those who serve and those who's family member is deployed.
I like to send care packages to soldiers that are deployed. http://www.angelfire.com/pa5/troopcarepackage/index.html
It's a great way to let someone serving your country know you care about how they are doing and that you support them, regardless of your feelings about the politics that got them where they are.
