As far as I know applications for the adoption of any dogs or puppies was closed two days after the seizure (unless something has changed.) In fact, three of the best dogs were immediately taken by sherrifs with numerous law enforcement personnel putting in requests. The saddest thing is that the females that were pregnant and not ready to give birth were to be spayed - and any puppies in utero aborted. All dogs were immediately available for adoption - meaning they were healthy and in good shape. Is it not a conflict of interest for those involved in seizing these dogs to actually profit by it (taking possession of any of the dogs)?

I was just going throughsome of the prvious posts and it makes me wonder: If you board yor dog with someone and all the dogs get seized, does this mean that you have no recourse under the law if someone ELSE signs away ownership of your dog? What if one of your nighbors (who may have an issue with you) decides to grab your dog surrender it to a rescue?
I was not aware that anyone other than a full owner of a dog could rightfully surrender ownership without the co-owner's (or otherwise legal owner's) signature on any documents.
It seems that any shelter or rescue has the responsibility of "due diligence" to make certain they are recieving a dog that someone else does not have legal claim to and may have been removed inappropriately. Especially if the dog has permanent ID. You can't do this with a car - the holder of the non-transfered title still retains ownership even if the car is no longer in his hands.

Kinolog - you can´t do this with dogs, too....at least I am willing to believe in the law of your country...
Right now I don´t find one single person, who knows first hand what REALLY happened.
Call me naive, but I don´t believe, that any dogs, whose ownership was questionable, was adopted or spayed yet.
A lot of rumors, and a lot of confusion...
Reality is, they had to find temporary homes for 39 ( THIRTYNINE ) dogs within hours. If some of the police officers are willing to foster some of the dogs, GREAT!
Way better than living in a messed up cage.
What´s the problem?
Once again, I don´t believe in a lot of "owners". Did anybody meet any "owner" yet? The German Shepherd scene in xour country, espacially the US show circuit, is not THAT astronomically large.

kinolog, I wish the paperwork was made public. But she is not cooperating with the shelter to SHOW the paperwork on these dogs. She is still wheeling and dealing who gets the dogs counting on her getting them back when this is over. There are some still supporting her and have raised money for legal defense for her. Their names should be released to the public to be judged as she is. They should be raising money for her to get professional help. The coownership card is a joker and does not really exist when the card game begins. Show the paperwork!

i agree with sitasmom, the fault here lies clearly with the rescue, the police, the justice system, the gov and the guy down the way that sells chilli burritos in fact it is evrbodies fault except the owner who stacked dogs in a remote location that she visited occasionally to keep them alive enough for breeding purposes, she is clearly the victim here.

I have been doing some research and if these dogs are registered and identified with microchips or tattoos, the papers should show who legally owns them. The paperwork is crucial and needs to be made public. You cannot claim coownership if your name is NOT on the official paperwork. Show us the paperwork!

I have never called Dawn a victom!
The victoms are the dogs and the dog owners that are caugth in the middle.
As far as names on paperwork.......not necessarily. I have paperwork for a puppy on my desk right now, its 4 monts old and I haven't sent in the litter paperwork yet. It was a singleton, and I am keeping the dog for now.... yet the paperwork has not been turned it yet.
Most of the people I sell puppies to, contact me several months after the they pick up the puppies and ask for duplicates becasue they lost the paperwork.
I've also waited months to get paperwork for dogs I've bought.
IMO, as with any forensic accounting, emails will show proof of many of the deals that were made. Which are co-owned, which were sold outright.

SitasMom, we are not talking puppies but dogs that have continuously been bred or shown. The paperwork should resolve any claims to ownership. Every time you breed or show a dog the original paperwork is required to complete the enty. This entire situation did not just happen on one weekend. These dogs were underweight (even by show standards vs pet weight) and some needing veterinary help (fleas, wounds and overall fifth). The dogs were the victims. Sadly they continue to be exploited. Please bring on the JUDGE!

Paperwork is not necessarily necessary for puppies under 12 months in club or regional SV shows.
Having just put on a show, out of 23 entrants under 12 months, about 1/3 were not yet registered.
