Do you seriously believe if there were any real basis for questioning Obama's place of birth, the Republican party would not have pounced on it to destroy the Obama candidacy?

First of all, that case has been dismissed.  More important, Obama's mother is, was, and has always been an American citizen.  Even if he HAD been born abroad, which seems unlikely, but even if he had, lIke McCain who was not born on U.S. soil, both candidates are AMERICAN CITIZENS BY BIRTH because their mothers are native-born American citizens.  This great country of ours protects her citizens.  If you are an American woman who happens to be abroad when your baby is born, don't listen to RPK - your baby is an AMERICAN CITIZEN.

None of us agree with uglydog (thank God for that).

As usual, Abhay goes where the female thoughts are.  also, he hates horse fighting (although he didn't actually give an opinion on it) but glorifies dog fighting (there, for those purists that constantly harp on that "this is a dog site" thingy).  As if they didn't know what this was about when they clicked on the thread title.

Too funny.  I just bought 100 shares of IG, 100 shares of Ford and 100 shares of GM.  Just for the heck of it.  It is so cheap right now.  I am going to let it ride for 5 or 10 years and see what happens.  I suggest all of you that are not on government subsistence do the same.  It will cost you about a grand to do what I did.  Not only will it help the economy, but it will turn out well for you.  Plus, you can get a head start on spreading the wealth around.

The economy will improve.  These things a cyclic.  Obama will get the credit when it does.  Bush will not.  If it doesn't, Bush will be blamed.  Obama will not.  Four years from now, it will be Hillary vs Palin, as Obama will be dumped by the Dems because of his obvious inability to win again, due to the state of affairs in this country and how weak we are perceived to our enemies.

Look how much Obama has turned us against each other already.  Imagine how mush it is going to grow when the taxes, oil, and the price of everything else goes up.  I will say it again.  If you raise the taxes on businesses, they in turn raise the price of whatever you buy.  The only ones that win are the politicians.  If you have to hire an attorney to defend yourself from false charges, the only one who wins are the attorneys.  Same scenario really.

Bookmark this page so that you can refer back to it in four years.  If you do nothing else, do that.  It will be fun come then.

Nope, that was Bush/Cheney and the divisivness of the past 8 years.  Obama has actually united more of the country than ever in the past 8 years and it's not even election day!  Look around at his endorsements: wealthy blacks & whites, poor whites & blacks, as well as rich and poor Republicans and Democrats, have come out to support Obama.  Beautiful.

You are exactly right - Bush's approach of "my way or the highway" was a big part of the problem.

I am so glad that the economic crisis we are facing occurred at this time. Imagine if Obama we elected and then weeks into his presidency the shit hit the fan, the Repubs would have been at full throttle blaming Obama for the implosion.

And remember that Karl Rove, Bush's architect, admitted that he consciously tried to be divisive, as it was the way to win.  Even USA TODAY said about Rove: "But where he could have made a difference, he too often opted for confrontation that sharpened party differences and bled away the chances of bipartisan cooperation on the toughest problems facing the nation."

One of Obama's biggest messages is unity, and getting away from the Bush/Rove/Cheney way of politics.  Again, look at the cross-party support Obama has already gathered.
