We only need to go to the KC with the health issue and a survey requirement. The survey is by the B C so we need to go for the health and principle of a reveised system with the KC and ask the BC to instigate a working/aptitude test rising in a controlled fashion to full korueng i X years they must not get lost in just increasing the requiremnt of today and seeing how it goes they MUST have a clear publically stated plan, otherwise the GSDL say could appoint there own surveyors, use their own working judges, get a WUSV koermaster to establish the principle and away they go, this has been mentioned at the GSDL meetings in the past but not progressed. If they did consider that ,it would seriously dent the BAGSD opinion that they are the main GSD club

Oops... I think it was Bill (sorry Bill) who told us about the KC / BC meeting?  Well... a couple of things may be worth mentioning... the meeting is on the 20th not the 23rd and... here's the biggy... it's not about KC registrations!  It is to discuss the European Convention for the Protection of Pet Animals & it's with the KC's Breed, Health & Welfare Strategy Group.  Sheila Rankin rightly says, "there may be an opportunity to put forward DP's proposals but the Agenda is set by the KC"...

The KC only allow 2 persons per organisation to attend so, as Sheila Rankin points out, if you can get your Club to put you forward as a representative DP... hey presto!

Whilst we're not completely off the mark (re: KC meeting - it is the Breed Health & Welfare Strategy Group) with the proposals... how do we ensure that it gets put on the Agenda?  Is it worth bombarding them with letters and copies of DP's proposal?

The Strategy should be wide distribution and publicity, and ask the GSD Breed Clubs to support the proposals and for them to ensure their support is sent in writing to the BC Secretary as soon as possible.

The BC, GSDL & BAGSD should then ask the KC to for the item to be placed on the agenda 20th November 2008, with at least the opportunity for the GSD National Organisations formally present the proposal to the KC, and for the KC to acknowledge receipt.

When they are formally presented they should request a further meeting with the KC be arranged, once the KC have had the opportunity of examining and considering the proposals, with a view to obtaining a joint agreement, and hopefully to agree their implementation on some future date.

Earliest feedback is indicating widespread support, I certainly hope our breed, once more shows the way ahead for pedigree dogs that it did quite frequently in yesteryear. The GSD history of groundbreaking progress and leadership for canine health issues should not be confined to history. It should be resurected, revitalised and shown to be "alive and kicking". We can put the BBC and the KC to "rights", be in no doubt about that!

Well... I've done my posting/emailing.  I've also pinged off an email to Lord Rooker... as he seemed to deal with more animal issues that any other Lord... I'm asking you all to do the same please.  "Google" your town/city name then MP, it gives you options on a variety of Lords!

Both these DIRECTORIES are very useful:

The more emails of the "proposals" that they receive the better. LET'S GO FOR IT

I do hope you have some proof JJ of your aligations, and could you stop putting JDR i think it's JRD!!!!  LIZ

JJ would you please take your rubbish off this thread please.

This thread was started by me for the benefit of the breed - and your post above is not for that.

All the effort put forward by DP was as a request of several board members.  This thread has up until now avoided any personal slant and we all want it to stay that way.

Well said JJ welcome back, a bit of humour amid all this uselessness by DP and His magnificent 7. The Blind leading the Blinder.

I have a thought, Howabout euthanising all the GSD's in the UK except for Videx and then we could all have a Videx puppy and the world would be a far better place !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don think so?

By the way before anyone asks, my anonanimity is because we still live in a free country and if my memory serves me correctly not a Dictatorship.

Any proposals done thru any of the Breed regulators should at first be put to the members of the relevant clubs, and also to ALL GSD Kennel Club Registered Breeders you must remember what you are forgetting we are a small minority.
