Faith, hope and love don't exactly have a positive effect on social mobility.

And liberty is not a Biblical virtue.

Ohhh but... you could be wrong Noitsyou. Liberty not being a Biblical virtue is debatable my friend. I mean, men wrote the Bible, right ? Rev 3:7-14 Crazy isn't it ? GO AMERICA !!!!

by Noitsyou on 12 September 2016 - 21:09

Not debatable. The first five Commandments contradict the idea of freedom of religion.

Oddly enough, when it comes to racist comments that I hear, they are more often than not, made by old school Italians. Sicilian, even. And well, around here, that equals the Democratic machine. The young ones are much more open-minded. PC, I guess.

The other factor in the change at the polls is the Hollywood factor. Hollywood Royalty has thrown its money, and influence towards politicizing for Dems, aimed vocally at their fans, especially those who might not be all that smart, but they sure are devoted. Oprah and Barbra Streisand come to mind. Oprah handpicked Barry, now didn't she? And don't get me wrong, I do like and respect Oprah as a decent human being, myself. And, I love listening to Streisand sing anything. Can't stand it when she ventures into politics, lol.

Not as bad as watching anything by Michael Moore, sitting through any of his movies is like fingers on a chalkboard. I saw a documentary made by the daughter of Pelosi, recently, and I can't remember her name, but it was about philanthropy donor motivations and I thought it was incredibly biased in its POV, too, right when it got closest to the end. I read the credits and had my Ah-ha moment, lol.

Now when it comes to people who own guns... Can't put a party to that one. Too many on both sides for me.

The cost of Obamacare is going up and the choices are smaller with big names like Aetna bailing out. Not a good trajectory. The war on terror has spread and keeps morphing and growing during this Administration's watch. How much more time does this strategy need ... to actually work against the jihadists and their unrelenting goals? Now we have to let The Deal with the Devil play out. What a mess.

Donald was the picture of restraint and decency today, wishing her to get well. Frankly, I did not expect that!

Social mobility happens all the time. Opportunity is real for those who persist, not those who merely exist.

by Noitsyou on 12 September 2016 - 21:09

That's funny because in my experience it was the WASPs who made the most racist comments.

You also might want to look up just how many members of ISIS have been killed under Obama's watch. ISIS is losing.

Opportunity exists but you need to recognize it and have the requisite skills. Worrying about school prayer and teaching evolution is keeping children from acquiring those skills in the south. Worrying about bathrooms, Confederate flags and who can get married don't help either.

by beetree on 12 September 2016 - 21:09

Lol! WASPs like Hillary, lol! That sure puts the Basket of Deplorables into context, doesn't it?

Now, don't take this the wrong way Carlo, my own kids have Sicilian blood in their veins, but be honest. There are unkind phrases mentioning the vegetable family you no doubt have heard before? I cringe whenever I hear it, that is for sure.

Those with real ambition won't be worried about flags or which bathroom to use, only that there be toilet paper or which way to tell the direction if the wind is blowing. They will see and make opportunities. Not moan and wait for the world to deliver it,

by beetree on 12 September 2016 - 22:09

Oh, and merely killing individual ISIS members hasn't stopped them from controlling cities and territories in multiple middle Eastern countries. Driving in USA Humvees, and other expensive war goodies thanks to us!

All that piecemeal killing does is create some other thug's fresh opportunity to rise in the ranks.

Not exactly what I call a resounding defeat. Losing! Ha! Never with this strategy.

by Noitsyou on 12 September 2016 - 23:09

I didn't say WASPs like Hillary, if anything, I would have said WASPs UNLIKE Hillary. And I'm sure there are people of all ethnic backgrounds who have used racial slurs.

I also don't know why you would think I would take something the wrong way. Don't take this the wrong way but there are unkind phrases that you no doubt have heard before that were directed at Italians. Did they make you cringe as well? So I don't know what you're getting at (or rather, why you are trying to get at me) other than showing me that you've been a busy little bee (get it?) gossiping on PMs. Were you expecting me to jump to a defense of Sicilians or something? If I haven't rushed to the defense of Anglos what would make you think I would rush to defend Sicilians? I mean, who do you think the WASPs I mentioned who introduced me to the world of racial slurs were? Answer: members of my own family. They even used slurs on me.

And ISIS is losing ground. I don't know if you should call almost 30,000 ISIS fighters killed "piecemeal." ISIS has also lost 40% or more of its territory.

by beetree on 13 September 2016 - 00:09

Let me address one thing. I am not trying to "get at you". I am NOT gossiping on PMs. I can't remember my last PM that I made to date, and won't bother checking. I did address one issue with you, with one member only. I thought to provide insight and be helpful. I don't do that often. I suppose you are telling me that I made a mistake contacting you. No fear, it won't happen again.

PLEASE CONFIRM THAT GSD ADMIN.

I merely ask for honesty. Thanks for that, finally, because you don't often deliver it on an obvious level. I don't actually expect anything from anyone. You seem to think your statements are exempt from examination. You have Admin here, gulping down your every thought. I get it, it gets heady.

Uh, I don't know what your WASP comment was about in a post to me? You might think I am a WASP? And maybe you wanted to make a zinger with that remark. Well, I dodged that, didn't I? I would dodge any such tactic using any such race. So you see, this isn't about race, this is about ... something else.

I did hit a nerve, and in getting to honesty in that manner is not kind, and I do apologize to you for that. Sometimes, I don't know any other way but blunt.

by Noitsyou on 13 September 2016 - 01:09

No, you didn't hit a nerve, you couldn't hit a nerve as there is no nerve to hit. I'm just curious as to why you are trying. My comments about WASPs were not directed at you but clearly your comments about Sicilians were directed at me as you mentioned my name. I think that's the sign of a nerve being hit. I don't know if you are a WASP. You could be a Martian for all I know. You made a comment about your experience with eggplants. I made a comment about my experience with racial slurs. If they differ does it matter? To you it does since you had to make things personal. I mean, why do you assume I would have experience with eggplant used as a racial slur? Is it because I watched The Jerk with Steve Martin? Or is it something else?

I don't think anything I post is beyond examination. If I didn't want them examined I wouldn't be posting them. Isn't that sort of the point with an internet forum?

And you may not be gossiping on PMs HERE but you are chatting with others about me. It's OK though because I like Oscar Wilde.

You have nothing to apologize for since I don't feel offended or hurt. And you may like to be blunt but I prefer to be sharp.
