i know and said earlier "if that dog ever will bump into real confrontation". but anyway why encourage this?
in process of training the only person who allowed to praise dog is dog's handler. other way don't blame dogs for being too friendly and trusty to strangers.
on other hand - if dog naturally, without training will react to intercept moving toward him hand, from point of today's perception of "protection", such dog has improper trait and would be excluded from breeding as faulty, leaving this spot to dog who's fitting an idea of mass market.

duke, I'm not really qualified to comment on anything other than this is a very nice looking youngster.

Probably a lot of folks don't know you were once a "show" person, including AKC in U.S., but I see it in almost every dog you provide for viewing. It is good to see dogs like this that have prospect of work and also maybe get high marks in conformation.

Valk dog must never be afraid of decoys a pat on the head of ok as a pup .it is easy to swich as the dog gets older I can teach a swich
in fight in a couple of sessions .
It's imo a nerve bag that you have to teach to stay on the bite when the hand comes over .it's much easier to teach to fight hard than to bother to stay in the fight at all .

blade thats a wrong assumption, if a dog stays on the grip doesnot mean its a strong dog, know many who stay on the grip, but once pressured before engaging are lost, secondairy, i owned several dogs that had no problem letting go of the sleeve to come over the sleeve and bite, my IPO3 dog Jupp was one like that, when not outing in the blind a helper hit him between the eyes which made him out and come over the sleeve, but also that is genetic trait and will not be destroyed by any helper petting him as a young dog

Duke I never said a strong dog stayed on the bite.i said it was much easier to teach .and a dog that comes off the bite is a weaker dog unless he is redirecting and even then it is debated.but.it think anyone who's worked enough dogs have seen dog sink under pressure when bitting .your pointing out the obvious .and also I'm talking about the pup .I did not see any pressure on that pup to test his nerve rightly so .

Blade, I have no problem with a dog releasing to redirect a bite, as long as it is a committed bite. I am also not very big on having the dog posses the sleeve after a bite, if it wants to, sure, I will allow it, but, if he drops it and wants to engage the helper, minus the sleeve, great again.
I am not the type to want to martyr my dog and watch it die in order to prove to anyone how tough he is. If he is on you and you are punching him, I have zero issues with him biting whatever he can to make you stop.
At the end of the day, as a trainer, you can only enhance what the dog genetically brought with him that day, nothing more.

Hired as I said iv no issues with redirection as long as the dog is going forward for the hand leg that is going to cause damage .I also do not care where they bite.
