just amazes me how people believe what label on food bag says.
you're not a breeder with dozen of dogs, why when you cook for yourself, just do not cook little bit extra of same food for your dog?
as for allergy to "chicken based" food - have you try to give to your dog actual chicken?

My GSD and cat are now 100% raw (used to feed about 25% kibble prior to a year ago) but am watching a GSD now that was eating TOW Bison & Venison. That used to be in my kibble rotation. Food does seem different than it used to be. His stool smelled awful. With owner's blessing I am feeding him raw while he is with me.
Sunsilver: The Lifetime food you are feeding contains chicken fat. Does that not bother him/her? Does the chicken have to be in a higher concentration to affect the dog?

Where does one find if there is actual proof of any puppy deaths from eating TOTW? I just read the class action lawsuit that is pending and there isn't anything in that about puppy deaths. The complaint is specific to the marketing of the product. The proof being presented is in testing results, which require a lot more indepth explanations than what is seen in the simple chart presented. For instance, the arsenic numbers listed do not differentiate as being organic or inorganic in nature. Doing some research will tell you that this is a very important distinction.
I also don't see how the Chinese pet food manufacturing/melamine deception in 2007 is related to this lawsuit. That had nothing to do with USA FDA standards. The science and facts of heavy metals that are present in everyday life will need to be accounted for as they are being related to the TOTW marketing/advertising.
The odd fact that stands out is that the pet foods labled as "grain free" are the ones with the highest levels of heavy metals/pesticides and/or other contaminants. Not sure if this link has already been suggested but it can't hurt to provide it again; https://www.cleanlabelproject.org/pet-food/That the fish products are higher in heavy metals (ie. mercury) present really isn't news. Knowing this just makes it sensible to vary the proteins in diets to our pets, and ourselves. Even the smoking process of salmon should not be a surprise to be lableled as carcinogenic. Any char marks on your BBQ meats are to be included in that determination. There are levels that are tolerable and will not be accumulative over time being flushed out by the liver. These levels and distinctions will have to be argued and specified as to whether they were deliberate and misleading or simply inherent in the landscape and its flora and fauna.
