@ Koots exactly that was my point
How many time we see KNPV dogs sold to US or China for some big $$
They advertise with KNPV police dogs ( and their puppies)from Holland , they aren,t why not because this dogs
never been in real duty and what do they know how this dogs who do on the streets and real live
situations?? There is big difference between all that same routine training or un expected stress
situations. This is why its important certified dogs will work in the street and tell you something bout their genetics ,not every certified KNPV dog will make it .......
I also realise a titled PH-1 GSD don,t make you rich in Holland because KNPV is too small and most
IPO people go to that famous IPO German stud dogs....for any reason.
Today I see too many K9 business people who selecting dogs who bite on sleeve or have good
ball or metal drives to any police departments/ miltary in the world for single and dual purpose.
Every idiot today can start a K9 business this people only care for money. at the end of the day they sold all dogs and bloodlines and the sea is empty, I,m happy some people will realise this and keep/save their dogs and bloodlines in their own country .

so BM lets assume for discussionsake you are right,
Hans Pegge had Big Roy winning the championships, had big offers the same day, but said no, let him breed many females first, and selecting good offspring before he sold him, saw a really nice grandson of him recently by the way,
Now you bring up a nice story of someone "saving blood "for holland, the dog WON the national, how many offspring is there, zero that I know off
so you see something is wrong with your point of view
secondly I strongly believe the maintaining of quality lies in the quality of the females at a breeders place, if one male sells , there are enough less famous quality males for breeders to bring their strong females to

1 Rick is not a comercial person , Hans Pegge realy is. every crap female can stud with Big Roy if they pay ..... he also sold his dog Big Roy to CHINA !!!!
2 I.m sure Rick focus with Enzo to the KNPV nationals not how many studs he make and Enzo is
also a young GSD if he have offspring his offspring will be also young.
3 Hans Pegge is much bigger name in KNPV than Rick Verbruggen many people go for that famous names, you have seen some good offspring from Big Roy of course there weill be with 150 studs I also have seen some crap out of Big Roy................ If Hans Pegge have Enzo he sure make 100 studs........
This discussion is not about females ,Big Roy or offspring , its about he bring Enzo to the dutch police and they find him good enough , this is for me more important how he will make it on the streets than all that puppy factories in the world

BM lets keep it respectfull please
your logics fail again, Ricks previous dog did breed a lot as well
big roy bred a lot before being sold, so no lost genetics as you say
Every dog that breeds a lot will produce lesser quality dogs, its the good ones that showcase the quality/offspring of any dog
Im not debating Enzo being good for police, think he is a very good dog with a very skilled trainer, but if he was sold abroad, with the amount of breedings done, I dont think the German shep breed will collapse without him

by BlackMalinois on 25 June 2017 - 10:06
I don,t think we need BIG Roy blood in the KNPV because there is plenty from this bloodlines
he comes over Hunter and that was not a very good producer .......
also Bowie is used a lot
Why do we need 100 plus studs from one single dog in such na small organisation as the KNPV ? the problem we get there will be too much the same dogs in pedigree on long term same as Berry II with 500 studs!!!!
There are sold many many good dogs in the KNPV with very strong bloodlines and this bloodlines are lost !!!!

But maybe this is why he should stay in Holland, so that he CAN be bred to different lines of females to see what he produces, especially if he has not been widely used as of yet. If the dog was out of the country, this would not be discovered.
I still believe in strong dam lines above all else in a breeding program. IMO, too few females are proven/titled in Holland's KNPV program (vs males). Is this something that will change in the future? That may be a discussion on its own.

maybe , after winning the nationals, and nobody desire to breed him yet, it doesnot matter that much where he would end up, it is good he has a forever home where he can work and previous owner has room to start a new dog
KNPV is a program designed to train dogs, to sell to the police, so that is what is happening, and since Police prefers males, I guess that is why there are more males than females titled.

I think most GSD handlers in KNPV prefer to train with females , by the X malinois and dutchies I see more females for certification there are also malinois females who won the KNPV nationals, handlers like Henk Iedema only certified about 20 malinois females. Dutch police also have some nice malinois females in duty, but the most in duty are males
I also think most serious breeders will believe in strong female lines
but to get an honest opinion you will get in contact with GSD breeders like Arie van Eyck (Hornhutte) , Frank Stommels (Brandevoort), Jan Janssen (Heukske) etc etc this would be interesting.
Every good serious handler can certified males as females but most police departments worldwide will choose for males its true this is an important reason.
