In the crappy ol' US of A, the crummy AKC will fix all the registrations for 50 bucks...
Give the correct sire to the kennel club, they will fix all registrations

Kitkat, all I can say is: it happened before, it can probably happen again. In Australia or the US or the UK - Susie has a good point about the SV registration of DNA samples, in that it is compulsory and universal IN GERMANY; it unfortunately isn't, anywhere else. But the issue isn't about if this is a German dog or not, but what happens/happened outside Germany. You would only be able to find out if such a switcheroo had been done on you AFTER THE FACT. I realise breeders would find it embarrassing to think they had been caught like this.

@ Les P - in general I agree with the thoughts in your e-mail. Its true that vk4 hasn't given anything away, INCLUDING that we don't even know if the dog / the events are in Australia. And as a first reaction, I too have some doubts about the efficacy of the German system (which even where it works, is STILL presumably 'post' the production of actual puppies ...). But I'll e-mail you a more detailed response, so as not to go OT here.
My apologies to all of our friends in Oz and New Zealand, I AM lazy, 'cos I only recently read some reference to "AuKC" somewhere and copied it unthinkingly; so okay, that reference ^ should have read "ANKC" for (Australia & New Zealand); and thanks for the link to check all these KCs quickly in future ! Useful !

Using the name of a dead dog is insanely bizarre, but as Hundmutter said, substitutions have happened before, may be happening right now, and will happen in the future. But, also as Susie said, with the advancement of DNA testing, breeders will be more frightened to be party of these types of frauds.
And, thank you for discussing PMs, vk & Hundmutter.

I know a guy that was the third owner of a czech import that at least in theory bred a lot of pups, he got the dog at 7yo as a stud for his kennel....at a great price.
The only thing that the dog could ejaculate was a bit of clear fluid and blood.
I think honestly people rush to get in quick if they think they are onto a spectacular deal.

The point is the dog was purchased specifically as a stud dog.
The buyer for a dog that age should have just paid service fees, people look past the risks too easy if they think they are getting a great deal.
If I sell a bull at the price this dog went for I am obliged to guarantee its health and fertility and pay for a sperm count by a repro vet.
Dog world has its own set of not rules.
