My cost for picking up a full grown female 1.5 hours north of Cologne and 3 days kenneling at the airport was Euro 756. For a pup after taking into consideration inflation I feel Euro 700 to be pretty much on the spot.
It would be of course a great cost saving factor if 2 pups were shipped in one crate together. This advantage would most likely be from a broker.
Dog1 price of pup from breeder can surely vary but my total figure including puppy, shipping, and Customs and terminal fees would be $1,537.80 in US dollars.
All of the above prices.
Picking up your puppy and holding it on your lap for the first time and getting kisses? PRICELESS!
Based on a 600 euro puppy I would amend my total price in USD to $1,340.30. Includes puppy cost, shipping, Customs & Terminal fee.
Pup: 600 Euro = $790.05
All transport with crate: 700 Euro = $921.72
Shipper's "paperwork fee" = $25.00
Bank wire transfer fee = $30.00
Total = $1,766.77
The above cost projection does not include the "Boston factor," where having to drive four times through a tunnel whose roof tends to collapse and kill people can cause additional costs related to the self-soiling of your clothing and having your car detailed (Customs is across the harbor from the airport, requiring an additional run back and forth through the tunnel).
I just rescently dug into this as well.
I found Shipping would be around 3,000.00 to 3,200.00 Total costs US dollars.
While flying back and bringing a pup home excess cargo would be about 2,500.00 that's 1600.euro/2grandUS for pup and 460. or so US for round trip ticket (which is totally dependant upon what time of year you go)
fly the pup alone 3200.00 US
Go get the pup fly with it 2500.00 US
at least that's what I came up with.
P59, 700 euro for crate and flight?!!! From Frankfurt airport to USA? Never heard of it that sky high.
Is there a USA Broker involved in this transaction? Say one from New Mexico? If there is, don't even bother with that pup. It will NEVER arrive to your airport, regardless of how much you pay for it.
Much better off buying one in the USA, somewhere where you can DRIVE to and pick it up yourself.
Screwed by Broker
SBB... If I were you my butt woulda been on a flight down there, and once I got there I would be grabbin somebody by the throat demanding my money back. And if I got locked up when I got out I would be goin back there for a second effort.!!!
I don't have a clue, however, I can say that an imported pup with excellent bloodlines and pink papered, can be purchased in the U.S. for $2,000.00, with full registration rights. This would be through a "broker" and the broker HAS to be making money, therefore, any amount over $1500.00 would seem "wasted". Just a guess. What would be interesting to me, is how much would be the total cost of doing this and then going through to age three and ending up with a SCH III if you figured your hourly training pay at minimum wage of $6.75 USD. Compare that final figure to the cost of just going out and buying an already trained SCH III import. Now that would be enlightment.
