Re putting water on kibble -  as well as the benefits of ensuring the dogs
water intake is topped up, and the food is swollen and softened a little to
aid comsumption and digestion, the advantage of covering the food with
very HOT water is that it kills off any storage mites that accumulate on the
food while it sits in the bag or feed-bin.

Yes I do recall way back when I fed kibble, a very expensive organic kibble my guys lapping up gallons of water then of course the squirts.  None of that stuff on raw;  plus healthy teeth and  breath, I have a  14.l year old sammie girl that walks every day with her daddy is thriving on raw;  don't have pic's as I cannot take pic's worth a shit; sorry.  I did have one older, skinny, finicky, picky boy that did not thrive on raw but did better on raw than kibble, really he is why I changed to raw and he would not eat.  Well he ate for a couple of years on raw better, but not well, however there were underlying health issues plus he recently passed at 12.6 years old of kidney failure, so  there you go.  Nan

Dawulf, the training part is a bit of a struggle for me, so I would be interested to see what other raw feeders use.

i use pre-made raw for training, Vital essentials, they come in small size balls, but after they defrost, it gets messy. So tons of antibacterial wipes for me. I also use red barn rolls, not raw, and Chaos is not that crazy about it, and honestly, neither am I. I also use dehydrated raw lamb strips, tripe...sometimes cheese, if I can find low sodium. Left over cooked chicken, pork, cut in tiny pieces.

And for special occassions, his absolutely favorite thing in the whole world, bananas :) I think given the choice between any meat and bananas, he would take the bananas.

Ziwi Peak for training;  its a freeze dried raw or dehydrated I should say, not messy at all and stinks to hi-heaven;  also very healthy.  Comes in dry little square chips like a wood chip only it is meat with organ, etc.  Really is made for meals but I use for treats or if someone refuses to eat which my current 3 would be on their death beds if they refused to eat.  I would be rushing to the vet for help.  Great days,  Nan
