Every handler's worst nightmare... hearing their dog cry in pain. Its a chance we take every time we send 'em.

I don't see what the big deal is on that bite. The dog didn't commit and came off the helper. Did a re attack. I have seen WAY worse catches then this. Plus it doesn't look like the dog was jammed in the video.

Yeah, I wouldn't commit to jack either if I was in excruciating pain folded like an accordion. I would have said F it myself....

I think everyone needs to realize that some people will say anything in order to benefit themselves. Tana is a great dog owner. I have never seen someone work so hard and put in so much effort with a dog. Don't think for one minute that Xuko has a hard life. He did not have back surgery and most importantly he is one of the happiest dogs I have ever seen. I have one of his pups and she is a little angel. Tana puts her life into Xuko and not for one minute is she a bad dog owner.

The slow frame rate on the video did not reflect the jam or the ensuing curling of his neck and back upon impact. It was quite obvious to those attending... Beyond the agony of seeing a dog injured in such a manner, was the lesser consequence of a very powerful dog who was likely about to V. I don't know Tana, but her love for the dog and powerful relationship were evident as I wished her and the dog well in the lobby of the hotel hours later. As a side note, the dog was clearly of exceptional temperament; pure power and clear during the protection phase yet very stable, easy going and approachable in the hotel lobby despite his obvious pain. Very much a shame and something I hope to never experience. Kevin Nance

Quote: "As a side note, the dog was clearly of exceptional temperament; pure power and clear during the protection phase yet very stable, easy going and approachable in the hotel lobby despite his obvious pain. " I would second that assessment. I saw the dog the next day and he was still in obvious pain, yet very friendly and approachable. Wonderful temperament. Tana did, however, reference a prior back injury, and the dog's front leg was taped from another injury prior to the trial. Xuko is a BIG dog, easily one of the biggest gsds I have ever seen in the sport. (Simply a statement of fact) I have no reason to discount the contents of Charlotte's (Vianden's) post.

Nobody is saying the dog had a temperment problem .capps are you sayiing that Tana is liar? I saw Xuko with his back shaved I ask if she had back surgery and she yes.
MY  point in posting is I  don''t think the hepler should be blamed in anyway.By the video the dog was not jammed.
