If you don't want a working dog, why do you own a working breed? Get a non working breed or toy breed.

Why would I buy a Chi for a guard dog or to pull a sled? Just doesn't make sense.

Yes, its true, not everyone wants a working dog- and in my opinion the GSD is not for you. However, since breeders insist on breeding blk/tan couch potatoes that are the barest shadow of a true GSD, I suppose there will always be a market for them. But how DARE the breeder attempt to pass them off as "working dogs."

If someone wants an apple, and you want to sell them an apple, fine. But don't tell other people it's an orange.

Nonacona, you are referring to an expception, and by no means the rule. Even in simple, low pressure sports like AKC obedience/rally/agility, SAR, tracking....german bred dogs are more successful than American show type dogs, at least at all the events I've attended in the last several years. And I've attended quite a few.

Actually, I believe AKC had the GSD in the "working" group originally. That changed in the early 1980's.

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong:)

I'm sorry but that isn't true.  There is a reason we have standards...can you imagine the chaos we'd have if everyone got to decide for himself what his version of a millimeter was going to mean?  Using your logic, everyone should if that is the definition that works best for the individual.  Good luck buying a wrench.

The one thing I notice right away from this guys kennel is how narrow the heads are on his dogs, Like a Collie and the pigment is very lacking. I was told by an old German breeder many moons ago that head size was a secondary sex characteristic. If thats is true are these males just feminine LOL Just kidding but they are long bodied narrow headed dogs some look just strange due due to small narrow head and big heavy bodies.  True the Shepherd as in working class for many years.

No, Maggie, I did not.  I've seen this same argument used for decades and it's ridiculous.  I'm convinced that most people don't want a real GSD, they want a Golden Retriever in a GSD body so that's what these people breed.

Actually I think a few of you missed the point.(not being mean) To start....The whole thing was about what a breeder posted on his site!!! Saying that people that import GSDs from other countries are importing infirior dogs that it doesn't matter where they come from they are ALL the same!! Bullshit! Reread what the breeder said. I posted it in italics.Also I posted a pedigree.I think it is quite a close line breeding or some form of inbreeding. Maybe in the begining of creating a breed that is done....but you do have to outcross at some point.You want the family tree to have branches.
