The Nutro Natural Large Breed Puppy is only 28% protein.
More importantly, if one does their homework (and not at your vets office), you will learn that dogs and cats need high levels of protein. This is essential to them, as they are carnivores. (For those who believe dogs are omnivores please answer why they have teeth and jaws designed to rip flesh and crush bones?). They do not get energy from carbs like humans do. They metbolize protein in to energy. The important issue concerning protein for dogs (and cats) is the source, and in turn, the bio-availability of it. Protein derived from plant sources is not as readily bio-available to carnivores as is protein from meat sources.
The only issue that I may have with the Nature's Domain is that it isn't higher in protein. I'd like to see something more in line with Acana Pacifica that has 33% protein.

I feed Merricks B.G. Salmon dry (32% crude protein) with Merricks B.G. Tripe wet (8% crude protein). Though, admittedly, I also add A1/N to his food and A1/C to his coat. Im a stickler when it comes to dog food. Japan is grain intolerant, thus Ive made myself more aware of the nutritional needs of dogs and the content of their food. Its far and few between, however, I have found animal plasma in wet dog food under the ingredients. A friend of mine feeds Iams, and shes mentioned herself, its the equivalent nutritional content of carboard. You may not want to jump the boat with a food low in crude protein if you can afford a better food. Just an opinion.

I often feed a mix of TOTW, Diamond foods (especially their Extreme Athlete) Kirkland's Chicken and Rice (at Costco) and raw meats/dairy/veggies.   I just bought a bunch of bags of Kirklands 2 weeks ago at Costco...haven't seen their new Nature's Domain, but I'm excited to hear about it!   The Kirkland's is better than nearly all the other mainstream popular foods at comparable prices (often less).  My dogs do excellent on it and the like it, I have one dog thats very picky and Kirkland suits him just fine.  I used to feed Sam's Club food, but stopped after they changed ingredients quality, quantity/price and I noticed that the bottom of the bags were getting gunky with greasy oil.

All of the Diamond foods has done exceptionally well for my dogs, the only other stuff I've tried and really liked were Innova's EVO food and Merrick's (their B.G line is great).  I've tried other all-natural diets, including other no-grain diets and though they were high priced and seemingly great ingredient list, the dogs either hated them or had problems on them.
I now only feed my dogs on Diamond (they make TOTW, Kirklands, and I guess now this Nature's Domain).

I started Athena on the natures domain about 3 months ago and it is the only food that she will eat. We started on iams large breed puppy and she hated it. Then we tried the Eukanuba large breed puppy and she ate it but didnt like it much. She has always gone crazy for TOTW so this was a good choice to try. Her stools are good and she has not had any skin problems. She was on Missing Link with the other food, but we have not used it since the Costco food. It stinks bad though!! She is a year old now.

I alternate between TOTW High Prairie and Diamond Naturals Lamb and Rice.
They are all doing great.

I wish there was a Costco near me, I have to buy at Tractor Supply.

ve909,

Why would you want to feed a kibble that already had glucosamine added at the time of processing? Do you think the heating, cooking and manufacturing process didn't significantly (or totally) decrease the effectiveness of the glucosamine? Just spend the few extra dollars and add it in right before they eat. Same as if you are going to add Omega oils to the food.

I am feeding the Diamond Naturals lamb and rice right now.....but am going to go back to the chicken and rice formula. My dogs have done very well on the Diamond Naturals. I also like their Extreme Athlete one. It is good for nursing momma dogs.
I wouldnt mind mixing the Diamond Naturals chicken with the Natures Domain...that way the dogs would have 2 protein sources.

T, at 9, looks and acts much younger than his years on TOTW Salmon. I give him K9 Power Young at Heart supplement, sometimes Joint Strong.  You wouldn't believe the coat on this old dog. His energy and vitality is off the charts. I had to take him out and let him run a few blinds tonight just so he would let me sit down and relax with my green tea in peace.
I will try the Cosco version when I get food next time. Cosco is only about 8 miles away, convenient enough.
