I think animals, not just dogs, have a lot more going on than humans realize.
Thats all I'm saying.
Don't care who believes what.

I agree Moons.  I still state that dogs have "limited" reasoning abilities.

My dogs LOVE me. Why else would they put up with my shit? I have 1 that worships me and 1 that could take me or leave me. I have had dogs that didn't love me, dogs that just wanted something from me. I can see the difference. I have even had a dog that was loyal/compliant but she didn't love me, she respected my athority and that's about it. The ones that don't love me, don't die of old age at my house.

Actually, if you read the article I mentioned above, it seems fairly clear the many species have some basic cognitive abilities, & show the foundation for rational thought, & self awareness. An animal that can take an object & find a use for it beyond it's natural function in the wild is thinking. An animal that understands that when something is no longer seen it still exists is thinking. The scientists have terms that describe these abilities, I can't remember them off the top of my head, but these are the building blocks of reason. It's pretty cool, & they discover more & more of what any dog or animal lover already knows every day. Our critters are way smarter than we give them credit for! jackie harris
