How very sad.  I guess one of Martha Stewart's chows perished in the fire:

I am with Tina: I am not even going to watch the vid. Simply reading what has been posted here is disturbing and depressing enough. My heart goes out to those who boarded their dogs, believing them safe and expecting to pick up happy members of the family. I feel for the women who owned and operated the kennel. Imagine losing your beloved dogs and your business in this economy. I hope they had sufficient insurance, so they don't end up homeless, as well. It is true that we learn from tragedies such as this. I know I am going to be a lot more careful about things around my home that could go awry.

My heart goes out to the owners of those dogs, and to the kennel owners...

Losing everything in this economy is a devastating blow.  I hope they were insured, and I pray that a bad reputation does not develop because of this.

Besides, if Martha Stewart boarded a dog there...the place couldn't have been too much of a dump.  After all, despite her jail time and all, Martha Stewart has the money to put her dogs in the very best, and there was some reason she chose this kennel.

I never saw the inside of the place. Only the outside.
They must have had some very nice dogs. They are on the front page of our local papers every year for Westminster. Hopefully they have good insurance and can build it back better than even soon.

My Monitor heater is not a stand-alone portable job. It is stationery, vented outside, fed from an outside tank. It is sealed, no exposed flame, fan-forced air, very comfortable to sit on as the unit itself isn't hot. Not cheap at $2800-3500., but it will heat my 22' x 50' (actually up to about 2500 sq ft) building to as warm as I want in no time flat on about a gallon a day. I highly recommend it to anyone with similar needs.

I can't imaging finding my dogs burned or fighting for their lives from such a tragedy. I doubt I could ever return to my place after something like that. Our new boiler in the basement caught fire in December. Luckily we were home, right there when it happened, fire extinguisher at the ready or that's exactly what would have happened.

Not going to look. I can only imagine. What a tragedy.  My deepest sympathy with the kennel owners and owners of the pets that perished.

How horrible.  My heart goes out to the all involved.
What a cynical statement as well as ignorant to suggest it was intentional.

Not going to watch either... so very sorry for all involved in this tragedy.

Oh My, I watched before reading these. My deepest condolences to the owners of all the dogs.

The lack of tact and sympathy is pathetic in some here. The statements are horrible and I hope that you never find yourself in this position anytime in the future and if you are, I hope people show you as much sympathy as you;ve shown others.

Can't look at the link, imagining is bad enough.  I'm so sorry for all involved, hope the delivery man makes it and doesn't have to endure years of painful recovery.  Very sad situation, kudos to the rescuers, brave and caring souls.

My girlfriend was on duty this past weekend & would have had her Shelties there if her boyfriend hadn't offered to dog-sit at the last minute, thank God....I just got off the phone with her. She said the owners were absolutely devoted to their dogs, and put the comfort and needs of their dogs before their own needs, perhaps why the people lived in a pre-fab & the dogs lived in luxury. They did show & win at Westminster on a regular basis, & Martha Stewart was a client & bred one of  her Chow Chows to theirs, my friend was telling me how adorable the litter was, like little teddy bears..........she is very shocked, & is going to offer her assistance to the owner. Very, very sad. There but for the Grace of God go I. When I look around my home, I can see so many things I never would have thought of as fire hazards.......but there they are! Time to do some re-arranging around here! jh
