Hodie:

Thank you for the extra information on Meoclopramide.  This information is not noted on the Vet Data Sheet given to me.  I am concerned about giving this to Falon as last month I had her at the vet after experiencing a siezure.  To my knowledge it was the first Seizure she has had, but of course could have had them when I was not home.  She has not had anymore and blood work had been taken and did not indicate any cause.  I am not sure I like given a drug with this type of side effect to a dog that has had a siezure recently.   I will call my vet so we can weigh the risks and benefits.

Thank you again for the advice.  Lucikly I am working from home for the next few months 4 days a week and have someone here on the 5th day so she will not be alone for long periods.

Some questions I have--does the stomach always twist in the same direction?  I'd just read Mango's post above about picking the dog up and turning it to the side and was wondering about that.

Also, do you give Gas-X softgels or does it come in a liquid form like antacids which you squirt down their mouths?

Cheryl, I wish your baby girl the best and a speedy recovery!

Cheryl,  I am glad your dog is feeling better.

Thank goodness you caught it in time. When Ansgar got sick, even the vet didn't recognise it the first time we went, It took a second visit for her to get appropriate care. Of course, by that time she did need the surgery. Grrr! I came across the same info about re-bloating, somewhere. The incidence of recurrence goes down after stapling with something given to reduce bowel motility while they're recovering. It's very scary, though. Good luck & best wishes, jackie harris.
