Micky D I can find no news source (credible or otherwise) with this story.  Unless we can find a link to an actual news story or USDA report, I am inclined to think someone on your other list is either trying to pull a prank or stir some shit with this "story".

I'm not sure what the 9 year old article and the 1 year old article regarding  temperature embargoes  have to do with this thread.  You can have your vet sign an acclimation cert which allows a little more variance.  Also taking "red eye" flights will help avoid issues with soaring summer heat.

I just got off the phone with American Airlines Air Cargo. The Lady I spoke with said, they have been receiving calls since early morning regarding this issue. She assured me, American Airlines knows nothing of this, and is happy to ship your puppy.

No way, no how, could it be true. Our already crippling economy doesn't need another blow like this and something would have surfaced before now. The ailrlines want us shipping our animals, they need the revenues.

When you go to the aphis site linked above, you get a 404 message - not real reassurring:

This is the point where I gave up.......APHIS may be redoing everything, or they may have bowed out and are getting out of the issue...

People who propagate this crap are part of the problem. Help put a stop to this kind of internet idiocy by refusing to believe everything you read. Is that not an option? If people are going to post such shit, there are ALWAYS people who will do nothing but spread the rumor. Then things get out of control. I pity the poor airlines wasting hours answering phone calls today because of shit like this.

It is completely ludicrous, and irrational, in the first place, to EVER think that dogs won't be flying on planes. There may be rules and regulations about how, when, and where they may fly, but it is not logical that some agency, even some horrible US government double secret agency, would promulgate rules that effectively prohibit animals from being transported. LOGICAL thought processes should be the first clue that what you read and then continued to spread is pure crap.

I am sorry to give some such a hard time, but some times you ask for it by posting crap like this. Do your homework. You do it, before posting and then you won't be part of the problem. Further, take some of these other people to task on these other lists that contribute to the problem by spreading crap or NOT READING.

I just shipped two puppies out via Continental within the US and one to Canada without a problem - and am picking up a dog coming from Germany on Friday via Lufthansa.  No problem.

LOL Hodie, did you just type SHIT...twice even?!  Isn't supidity irritating?

by hodie on 18 February 2009 - 19:02

Sorry about the s word, but yes, I get irritated when I continue to see people use the internet in inappropriate ways. Such a valuable tool has become, like this site, almost useless all too often because it gives people who are lazy the opportunity to propagate crap....

There, is that better? LOL

I found this out this morning when I tried to book a flight for a puppy going from Canada to the US... it was first I had heard. I searched the net and found nothing.
HOWEVER, the person on Northwest said it was still okay for dogs to travel from the US to Canada.
There is no news about this anywhere.... how can it be?

Maybe you can call your airport's cargo services area and start asking questions. You may have to skip the first few clerks and talk to a few supervisors or directors to get the story. You might find that people that ship dogs are or will shortly be required to be "registered broker" and the "extortion" fee is somehting like $400.
