is a favorite chew toy for when the dogs are just hanging around in the house. they make them in a lot of sizes, and they last longer than the red original kongs.

Toy or teeth...Something has got to give.
When my JRT was a puppy, I was baiting him with a pup-tug. He chomped ahold and a rousing game of tug-o-war broke out. Little did I know his puppy teeth were getting ready to fall...
...Until he went flying backwards in a spray of saliva and discarded teeth.
Now toothless and bloody-gummed, he launches himself back at the tuggy as if nothing had happened and hangs on. I gave him the "aus" command, put the tuggy away, and tossed a few ice-cubes on the floor for him to soothe his mouth. Now THAT is drive for you: not a tooth left past his premolars and he was still ready to go. If I could find a GSD with that amount of drive, now that would be the dog for me .
Thanks for the suggestions, All. I will have to check them out. That eGGe looks fun. It's something that I could see entertaining the whole pack.

Then there's my male Shepherd, whose toy of preference is a rock or a brick. I could never do schutzhund with him: his bottom canines are worn down to stubs!
Seems like there IS no perfect toy!
And whoever recommended the black kongs? Just for fun, I think I'm going to post a picture of Star's black kong.
What's left of it, that is!
