Was just 7 degrees according to my car thermometer on the way home tonight.  The only one of my dogs that seems bothered by it is my JRT, but he shivers anytime it's below 40 unless we're out in the woods...then he goes into "hunting" mode and doesn't seem to feel it.

Last week my driveway was a sheet of ice.  Most of the dogs had the sense to slow down enough so they wouldn't slip, but my one female had a blast running full speed up and down the driveway, then she'd put the brakes on, slide to a stop (or sometimes into the wall of the house...), and then turn around and do it all over again.  Damn dog almost gave me a heart attack but she really seemed to enjoy herself.

Oh, and I am in NJ as well (Blairstown).

Here is the brat playing by a river the other day.  She waded in but was bright enough not to swim...then she found a stick (log?) and was happy :)
(yes...she is blowing her coat right now!)

Right now in the Poconos it's -1F, with the wind chill it feels like -19F....going down to-6F, with wind chills around -25.  My dogs are going bonkers, they want to go out, then take 16 seconds to do their thing, & they're dragging Hubby back to the house. Kali evens hikes up her back feet, like she saying,'Ouch, my pads!" "Course we have a couple inches of powder over 3" of ice over 6-8" compressed snow. One of the pups actually got a damp pad stuck to a patch of ice & pulled a tiny little piece of the calloused part off, I didn't realize what had happened until I checked out where she yelped & found a itty-bitty little bit of paw-pad still stuck to the ice...poor baby. I think she stepped in her own pee, silly goose! Beckett doesn't act like he cares, but he sure doesn't waste any time outside! And play time indoors? OMG-it's like a herd of rambunctious elephants! We have the thermostats cranked up to 75 right now, & the actual temp in here is 50. We can usually keep them at 65 to acheive an ambient temp of 70...but not tonight. My husband forbids dogs in the bedroom, but tonight may be an exception.....hmmmmm-3? or 4 dog night? BBRRRRRR! jackie harris
