Mindhunt: I can't even imagine having to determine whether or not the chewing was pari/post mortem. It's unbelievable what these monsters are capable of and this is not the 1st time you have mentioned some really horrific scenes. I thank you for your work, I assume you are a 1st Responder. You must have super-human self control especially considering the creeps you have had to deal with.
I agree with the posters who say this could not have happened, not for 1 second do I believe the pup killed the baby. Hopefully this will be fully investigated, and the truth will surface.
The parents are truly twisted for whatever the hell they did to this child.
4Pack: I wouldn't change a word of your original post on this thread. You took the words right out of my mouth.

Thanks Sueincc, as for self-control, well, I may not always be as self controlled as I would like to be, what happens in the back of a medic stays there . I am a retired firefighter/paramedic from a career fire department and worked as a career medic in other areas before getting hired on as a firefighter. I have to be fair and say that I have seen some wonderful people stand up and do the right thing above and beyond. I have also seen some people that should not be allowed to breed let alone be out in public. I say lets have some BSL for stupid, irresponsible, chronic offenders and criminal types. I'll be the first in line to help spay and neuter..........LOL

Tragic story and I too doubt the puppy was responsible. More than meets the eye here, I'll bet. Some people should have neither pets nor children because you can't fix stupid.

This is so sad for that poor baby. Even if the Lab pup really did managed to kill the baby, that baby suffered neglect from his parents. It doesn't even take a parent to have the good sense to keep a pup away from a baby, just common sense.
I was looking for updates on this story and came across this comment on a message board:
"So sad, but I find it hard to believe a lab would do that. They are the friendliest breed. And a puppy no less. I wonder if it was a lab/pit mix."
Of course it had to have Pit in it. That would only make sense right? <heavy sarcasm>

How can anyone who CARES about a child be less than vigilent??? I think that answers the question....nobody cared. Y'all are 100% correct.....awful. jh

It was a pit disguised as lab I am sure :) when will people stop blaming dogs and start taking at least little bit responsibility for their idiotic an educated decision. Animals will be animals and no matter how good and wonderful you should never leave a baby unattended.

What an idiot!
I wonder if it was a case of stupid parents/grandmother who didn't supervise the dog/child interaction properly?
I wonder if this wasn't a case of stupid parents/grandmother on crack. Did you see the woman they showed as the "grandmother" smoking on the porch in the video?
I wonder if this is a case of "blame a flat faced aged dog and a 6 week old puppy" to cover up our crime?
I don't know about the rest of you but I remember those baby swings. We had to go back and wind them up after just a few minutes.
This whole thing just doesn't pass the "smell test".
It's reported that the first responders (God bless them) and the dispatcher have been relieved of duty for a stress de-briefing as a result of this. Sounds to me like more than an animal mauling.

In all due respect to everyone here and to MI GSD but I live just about 25 minutes from this lady and our area has an unsually large pit population. Meth is a huge problem here and alot of those people keep such types of dogs. It is common to see many pit mixes being pawned off as labs they are labeled as such by rescue groups and shelters so they can get them adopted! I have many many pet sitting clients that have dogs that look to be pit/lab mixes and are called labs. We see LOTS of pit mixes in the shelters and the worst mix we see around here are sharpei X pit mixes!
That WAS in a pretty rich neighborhood/area. I have a pet sitting client over there that lives in a gated community next door to this neighborhood also. But if you think about it the parents were 17 and 18 years old.......this age group in Tulsa are pit lovers! So, who really knows. The news is now reporting that the puppy was 2 to 3 months old.
I don't think this is an ignorant statement or assesment since I live here, have always lived here, was a vet tech in Tulsa for 9 years and active with Animal Aid of Tulsa through the vet clinic I worked for!

oh, BTW, one of the meanest dogs I ever met was when I worked a Banfield in Tulsa and it was a lab named Bear! He was a mean SOB and had bitten many times! The owner was just lucky that she never got into trouble over this dog! Cancer finally got him and did him in! I am pretty sure his breeder is still breeding in our area also.

I saw a pic of the cop carrying the pup out. He was not 3 months old, 8 weeks at most and probably younger. My Baden was huge at 8 weeks but his little sister was tiny at the same age. Doesn't matter though, still not the pups fault regardless of his age. The dumbass owners can take all the blame here. It's not as if they left the baby 5 minutes safe in his crib and a monster dog crashed threw the window and ate him up, before anyone could blink. This baby was left unattended for hours and possibly died on his own (sids) or from abuse/neglect. It's really sad when people try to pass the blame when it's all on them.
