clews I did the same with the e-collar to get mine to shut up. When I bring that out, they know I mean business. No need to even put it on after that.

So it sounds like either they whine or they don't.... I was hoping there would be some magic thing I could do to make them stop. I love the yodel-bark-whine-scream - mine save that one for special occasions. I guess I should just consider myself lucky I only have 2 and not half a dozen.... can't imagine. I knew a dog groomer who had over a dozen toy poodles and all of them were debarked. Thought it was cruel at the time but now I guess I see her point.

I think it's a "hurry up, here I am, let's get busy" thing with mine. Like someone above mentioned, as soon as I'm in their line of vision, the "talking" starts. They only do it when they see me, not my husband, not my kids, just me. Of course, I do everthing with them and they go with me as many places as I can take them. I kind of liken it to my children's constant "mommy, mommy, mommy". lol

I find that there's varying degrees of the whining too. The best scream that my girl can do is when I have her at work in the crate with her "brother" and we are getting to leave. It's quite the excitement scream! She doesn't scream or whine very often, but when she does, it's quite impressive! The others it's just that low pitched whine at dinner time or if they think they are going somewhere. :) Generally speaking, I think that they are pretty quiet.
